Founders bar

it looks class and I love the name but I wish they'd opened it for the public. Stick some tunes on, the early kick off (if it's not us  ) on the teles and get people to the stadium early. Instead it's basically Quinn's Bar with a fancy sign.

Be canny for things like this if they could trial opening it on non matchdays for the public. Once the footbridge is open it won’t exactly seem too out the way. Then fair enough if on matchdays it’s limited to the posh seats brigade, but then at least outside of matchdays the regular peasants like me get a chance to go in.

is the town busy on non matchdays? If people aren't using the town on non matchdays, I can't imagine those habits changing because the club has a new pub attached to the stadium.

I just think football is becoming more and more corporate. If you're not going to spend hundreds/thousands of £££ then you can stand on a minging concrete concourse and be hassled by arsehole stewards. Even the fanzone was basically a few tables in the car park! We've got Quinn's, BCB, all the suites etc to cater for the corporates. How about the club tries to cater for average Joe as well? They want folk to stop leaving on 80 minutes? Make them feel valued.

Founders is basically an open goal for them and they'll miss by filling the place with corporates.

Aye could really start opening this and Quinn’s after the bridge is opened I’d say mate.

Not every day but weekends etc

Although I said that I personally wouldn’t pay £140, that wasn’t the main point I was making, it was the all you can drink aspect, an activity that shouldn’t be encouraged anywhere, never mind at a football match.
Would you never do an all inclusive?

Think the plan is to have it open same times as the sheepfolds

Anyone know the craic for this then?

Season card upgrade or summit?

Went to villa park with work Last week in the lower grounds hospitality under the holt end. All you can drink and eat for up to 3 hours before and 1.5 hours after. Upper tier half way line seat, programme and ex players talk in All for £140. Informal bar type environment. Was class

Be great if we had an summit like that
Thats way better value than safc offerings! Im shocked we sell so many tbh.

Mostly, and seemingly increasingly so with the improvements. That drinking in Sunderland city centre thread on the SMB section of the board people are often commenting how busy town is now on non-matchdays. Then once Sheepfolds takes off with all the housing and that, it’ll be on many people doorsteps. I understand that’s a bit way off at the minute like.

I understand what you’re saying mind, but with all the other places within a short walk us regular joes have more than enough choice as well. I would presume the club have done their homework and feel there’ll be enough demand to fill it as an additional corporatey area and at the end of the day if it works and they’re generating more money from it they’ll have been proved right.

Should have build a huge bar instead of the Beacon.

£140 is great value but it does of course depend really on whether you like and are able to have a decent drink. It’s not right to say £40 for the match ticket, it’s a PL game and you’re in a suite with facilities within the ground, if you had to buy your food and drink you’d still be happy to pay a lot more for a ticket than that. What did the BCB used to cost, which admittedly had a canteen snack, but no booze, and at championship level?!
