Founders bar

Assuming it means anyone can go in after the game if space allows?

Extra income for club people wanting a pint before heading home.
I’m all for that, but I wouldn’t be if I’d paid £60. Do you remember how shit the Sports bar was after the match when it was a free for all.
“if space allows” doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

We sit downstairs anyway. Looks like £30 gets you a programme (£4 now) and the chance to get into the bar for a few hours pre and post match. Something that very few would actually want. The half time option could appeal but by the time some walk there it'll be time to go back to your seat.

Am I missing something?

I think it'll be popular. I agree, £30 for access to a bar isn't something I'd want to commit to every game, but there'll always be a good number doing it as a one off. And I think season tickets will sell well there just for the ease factor for a lot of people

Exclusive external entrance
Host greeting on arrival
Prime seating in the West stand
Suite opens 3 hours pre kick off, half time and up to 3 hours post match (one hour post-match for evening kick offs)
Exclusive access pre-game and half-time and guaranteed post-game access
Purchase menu available to order
Match Programme
Live music pre and post match

£60 adults
£30.u16
£30 adult upgrade
That’s not an awful price

May well be a few decades ago now, but I'm sure I remember when you'd get a free upgrade to the BCB for a match with your season ticket.

With all the talk around 70% attendance requirements etc I was thinking it would be nice to have that as a carrot, rather than their stick approach. If you get 90%+ attendance for a season (or whatever number they think fit) then you get a free upgrade for you and a friend to the founders for a game the next season. Obviously would need to know what kind of numbers they'd be looking at, but if it was manageable it would be a nice touch imo

Well, they used to do it back in the day from what I remember. It was probably back in the days of Keane when it last happened.

Yeah exactly, it was a much liked season ticket benefit. Would be good to have a benefit like that brought back, even if they tied it to attendance levels

Do you get a different seat with your upgrade or is it still your normal ST seat you use?
Sounds like if you upgrade and you're in the lower tier you use your normal seat and just get access to the bar. If you're in the PC they give you a seat, presumably in the west stand. If they ever went back to doing an upgrade as a season ticket benefit I'd hope they'd include the west stand seat like!

I went tonight. Complementary drinks on offer, which was probably to be expected, but nevertheless nice.

In terms of the decor, some would say it’s austere, but I actually think it’s quite understated and classy. Each to their own. It’s clearly trying to give a Victorian feel, which again won’t be to everyone’s taste.

I don’t really bother with food on a matchday, so not too arsed about having to go to the concourse for that, but there are lots of seats and lots of screens. Conversely, in some parts of the BCB (far end), the amount of screens diminish.

If you want a cappuccino or a latte or whatever, I noticed they had a machine for those (not the bog standard instant stuff you generally get).

Toilets on concourse but have been tarted up.

I chose a seat in U21, a couple of rows from the back.

The same seat without the Founders offer is £580. When you add on the complementary matchday programme, which I would otherwise buy, it’s £328 the difference. In the championship, that equates to around £14 a game for bar access.

Is it worth it? For me, next season, yeah. A pint in a glass, fully stocked bar, a bit of comfort and warmth, somewhere to kill a bit of time post match. If it’s a let down, I’ll shift the following year.

Just saw this from someone who's been down to look around today

"Just been invited to founders as we are black cats season ticket holders . The seats in the ground are scattered all over , if you agree to premier concourse you need to go outside (where old club shop was ) down the steps where fans wait for players ) across car park to a turnstile into premier concourse. Half time going out of ground to get back to founders. You also have to Order food and collect from concourse , and toilets are on concourse . So all the Extra money you're paying (£1200) is to have a drink in founders bar 🤷‍♀️"

How much of that is true I don't know, but sounds a lot of money to have a drink in a bar, and potential seat low down in the west stand when there could be bad weather?
