Cheers, looks a canny festival, like a mini womad.Found something I wrote from a few years ago at End Of The Road:
EOTR is a lovely, chilled, friendly affair though the music covers a very broad spectrum with opening act, Joe & The Shit Boys, a 'bisexual, vegan punk band from the Faroe Islands', setting the tone with their 30 second songs all seeming to be about 'people who piss me the fuck off'.

Sorry, don't think they are in the video, it was just for whoever I was writing to.
I don't go to these gigs but they're on every year somewhere aren't they ?I sometimes wish SLF would just stick to the old classics but in hindsight it's nice that they mix it up a bit..last 3 or 4 years they've opened with 'Suspect Device' and the place went mental..they should stick to that..they've got enough good material to close the show in style.
I first saw SLF in 1981..the first two albums are fantastic then it's a bit hit and miss..I'd be happy if every gig was full of those two albums but i appreciate they've got to mix it up a bit..it just tends to go a bit flat when they play the later stuff..they've been playing the City Hall for the last few years..nearly always the day before St Patricks Day..they then play the Barrowlands in Glasgow on St Paddys day.I don't go to these gigs but they're on every year somewhere aren't they ?
I went to the comeback gigs in the 80s !
Surely the can chuck a few tracks in
My mate loves the later albums more
If you remotely followed them in the day I couldn't grumble at any song .
I loved that stuffI first saw SLF in 1981..the first two albums are fantastic then it's a bit hit and miss..I'd be happy if every gig was full of those two albums but i appreciate they've got to mix it up a bit..it just tends to go a bit flat when they play the later stuff..they've been playing the City Hall for the last few years..nearly always the day before St Patricks Day..they then play the Barrowlands in Glasgow on St Paddys day.
I often think I'll give it a miss but when I'm there and they're blasting Suspect Device out I'm like a pig in shit..I'll be back next year..I loved that stuff
I love all the stuff you do from that era or maybe loved
I just couldn't keep going year after year listening to the same 40 odd year old songs
It must kill the band doing it night after night .
Excellent again, much better setlist this time too. Circle Jerks were really impressive.Just booked up for Descendents next March. Got an eye on Subhumans in June and Random Hand next November.
Wish I'd gone to that, watched her support Evan Dando a few months ago at the Riverside and she was really good.Juanita Stein @ The Cluny. Nice, intimate gig - only about 20 or so, people in attendance. The Cluny itself was absolutely dead.
Only one mention of Sunday from the band, think she took the hint when no-one cheered.
They're playing Ku Bar in Stockton on the same leg.Mercury Rev in August at Leeds Brudenell. Seems an odd venue for them. Maybe part of another leg of a tour?
Brilliant, cheers for this I've just got a ticket. They're playing Ku Bar in Stockton on the same leg.
Durham Brass Festival have announced Barry Hyde (14/7), Bill Ryder-Jones (15/7) and LYR (18/7) are playing with local brass bands. A fantastic line up.
MONO are playing the cluny
That one will be special like
Have a look on the dates mate, tickets say 7th but I’ve just had an email saying it’s actually the 3rd. Not a massive change but might catch some out.Thought they were both very reasonable prices there, BRJ £27 & Barry Hyde only £19.50. Doesn't look like there'll be much bother shifting tickets either looking at what it's like after only a few hours on sale.
Got my ticket for that this morning as well.
I thought Barry Hyde maybe a little cheaper. It doesn't sound like a very technically complicated show.Thought they were both very reasonable prices there, BRJ £27 & Barry Hyde only £19.50. Doesn't look like there'll be much bother shifting tickets either looking at what it's like after only a few hours on sale.
I don't think I've listened to them before, but see there's a recent KEXP session on YouTube, so will check that out. Gig clashes with Autechre though so I'm unable to go.MONO are playing the cluny
