Forthcoming gigs.

Saw John Cooper Clarke at Glasgow Pavilion last, he was on good form. I don't think he wanted to go home, he was loving it.

They toured as The Pogues without Shane - I saw them with Joe Strummer. They were careful not to declare the Hackney show a Pogues gig but I imagine a tour with some bigger venues would pretty much require the name for commercial reasons. Jem, Spider and James were there at the start with Shane, Andrew (COPD and not well enough) with only Cait not involved (she has done U.S. gigs with Spider in recent years so a little surprised she appears to have no role). People can view the Hackney gig online so can get sn idea of how it is likely to be. They won't dishonour the band's name that's for sure.
The Pogues also toured with Spider taking the lead vocals in 1992 ish. Shane was on the tour but wasn’t performing with the band. It was strange and I’ve heard a story of Shane nobbling the leccy at Liverpool Royal Court. I was there but can’t remember such an incident.

I don't think I saw the incarnation without Strummer -who was great on a few songs but sounded wrong on others - but it is possible. I had flu for the Strummer gig but thought a 1/2 bottle of brandy before I went out had staved it off, ended up sat on the floor at the gig and a very precarious tube journey back. Saw Shane and The Popes a lot and Spider played whistle at a few gigs.

I think it was before the Strummer tour and Pele were definitely the support band. It was Ian Prowse ex Pele that told the tale about Shane.

Agreed to take the daughter and her mate to see Liam Gallagher's sons band which I was told was in Newcastle. I was having a fuck on paying for the parking in the city centre when the daughter goes it's a 40 minute walk to the venue. Had to keep my cool when she then told me it's in Byker 🤦

Who is it?

Coming up this weekend in Sunderland, the Boundaries festival brings together some of the biggest names in the experimental music world. Acts from Iran, Syria, Mexico, the USA and closer to home. It's pretty niche, but within this field, these are big names. Bit of a preview here:

It's four shows over two days, ticket for the whole thing is only £15, so you can't complain about value. Not sure I can do any more than the Saturday evening, but will definitely get along for some of it.

Aye, I meant the name of the band. I’ll give them a listen, but I expect it to shit.

Do a review. Is it at the Grove?
They are called Vilanelle. I think it’s Lennon Gallagher from what I have read. I saw a bit of them as a support earlier this year without knowing the Gallagher link. It really wasn’t for me.

Lennon Gallagher’s band is called Automotion, saw them supporting Gurriers a couple of weeks back. Thought they were best support I’d seen in a while. Bass player is excellent , but all good. Didn’t know who they were until after they had played, so listened without prejudice!

Anyone at Sports Team tonight? Surprised to see the Boiler Shop half-empty.
The Grove is a canny little venue..went to see Gang of Four there..it gets a bit warm inside like..proper Emmerdale.
The Grove ain't great. Miles out of the way, clientele are shite, the bar is always 3 rows deep and the sound is meh
