Forthcoming gigs.

This year I've got
  1. Milburn down Sheffield
  2. Last Dinner Party in Newcastle
  3. Libertines in Newcastle
Can't think of any others off the top of my head. My days of going out for gigs are well done for since having a kid

Bob Vylan were really good at the boiler shop. I too think it is one if not the best venue in Newcastle. The sound is good, there are well organised queues for the bar and the beer selection is much better than most venues. The history of the place is a bonus for us train fans.

LYR at Wylam Brewery on Sunday were excellent with trippy visuals from NOVAK. LYR sold a load of merchandise and Simon Armitage was very willing to chat and sign stuff afterwards. Music by local artist SL Walkinshaw was played at the start of the evening. Worth giving him a listen if tape loops and field recordings sound appealing. Nice venue too.
Next up for me is Kathryn Joseph on Thursday at the Old Cinema Launderette in Durham.

So annoyed I missed this.

I went to see Paloma Faith at the City Hall yesterday.
It was a good show, but I don’t understand why Geordie audience members feel they have the right to attempt conversation with the performer.
I’ve noticed it at a few gigs recently.
What makes them think they ( or anyone else) have the right, and whether any of the thousand or so others are remotely interested?
Maybe they want to reinforce their claim to be “a great audience” , they believe it when they get told it and never for one minute think that every audience gets told it.
Just a small niggle , but just shut the f**k up😂

I’m giving it a swerve as I’m seeing them at Northern Kin & it’d be another night, there’s been a lot recently!

Dan Donnelly did make me think twice like. As Kingdom Bhoy said, really enjoyed him before Ian Prowse.
It seems that The Men They Couldn't Hang are playing at Northern Kin.

Kathryn Joseph was fantastic at the Old Cinema Launderette last night. I think it's the fourth time I've seen her. Always an absorbing performer. I felt really privileged to be there.

Michael Head excellent tonight as always. Gets a very big sound of his acoustic guitar. Streets of Kenny probably the highlight, it’s never been anywhere near my favourite tune. It was just fine so well

They are. I think the line up this year is really good.
I’m very much looking forward to it, but not sure if I’ll make the Sunday.

Just in from the 40th anniversary of The Pogues Red Roses For Me gig at Hackney Empire led by Spider Stacy, with Jem Finer and James Fearnley also playing. Was fantastic and so pleased I didn't miss it. James Wallbourne played guitar throughout and Fontaines DC drummer Tom Coll drums. Various guest vocalists and musicians, joyous and frantic It was being filmed and Spider and Jem both made comments that sounded like other gigs were a possibility.

Sounds good one of my favourite albums by them
