Not really a fan, but it’d be an interesting night.

I saw she played a surprise gig in Brighton last month. Has she been poorly?

We had tickets for her first play at Live, back in May I think, which was cancelled at short notice. Hopefully she can get back to work on that as well.

IIRC, she was sexually assaulted, and then think the death of her mam really hit her really hard, and then went missing during lockdown.

Been in some sort of rehabilitation/therapy.

WE arrived at 18.55 and queue was already round the block to where the Civic Centre is, a bloke came out and reshuffled the queue bang on 19.00. The queue moved quickly once it started moving and we were inside, coats in cloak room and drinks in hand by 19.30.

Living Colour were absolutely superb and really got the crowd going, I was proper delighted to be able to see Will Calhoun on drums but Vernon Reid is an unbelievable guitarist and Doug Wimbish is a proper legend in some circles - hence the hip hop medley which was mint.

Extreme were amazing. Way better than last time I saw them, they've really honed their craft. Musically note perfect, Cherone gave a great performance but struggles a little vocally (he always did in fairness). Set list was brilliantly chosen covering all six albums. That's the best gig I've ever been to at the City Hall, only slightly marred by the dirty get next to me who kept farting absolute mingers and then developed cancer inducing halitosis. He was absolutely stinking by the end but the place was full and didn't want to try and move.

Fan boy moment when checking into the Crowne Plaza (look at me etc) - Gary Cherone sitting in the reception gave a nod and a smile, I turned to see Nuno coming out of the lifts. There van had arrived to take them to the gig around 14.30.
Check the review of the concert in the Northern Echo. Incredible write up. He used the words he was flabbergasted by how good Extreme were. Certainly one of the best gigs I have been to for years and recently I'd had a few contenders

Seen him last night down Manchester . Really enjoyed it (apart from the £7.40 pints !!)
I was there as well. I refuse to pay Academy Music Group prices and I didn't want to be pissing every ten minutes whilst disturbing a row of seats. The amount of leg room where I was appalling and I'm no giant. I'll never go another all seated gig at the Apollo.

missed out on Avril tickets for Manchester this morning. All sold out 10 minutes after going on sale. Has anybody used Viagogo before for tickets, are they trustworthy or will I be refused entry on the night?

It is shite the seating there. Never used to be that bad from what I remember.

No such problems at the Glasshouse/Sage, though predictably, when someone is playing for 2 hours to an audience of gadgies of a certain age, I was regularly having to swivel round to let people in and out of the row.

Great evening, though, and a strangely emotional one for me. I was choking up during the biopic, that's 40 years of my life gone since I first saw him at the ICA with Bronski Beat and the Redskins, and I seem to have a lot of fond memories linked to his gigs and festivals since then.

Great to see the place packed to the rafters too, and he's never lost that rapport with the crowd. Quite a heartwarming evening, all in all, despite the lack of The Saturday Boy, one of the greatest songs ever written.

My Billy Bragg debut, really enjoyed it. Missed the film but, was it about him like? I’ll assume I’ll be able to watch it at some point in the future?

Only issue for me was that there was no drink allowed inside. I mean, I snuck a couple in, but it’s my Friday night, it’s not a play, it’s a gig. Albeit a quieter one. We were allowed a pint in for Spiritulized in there.
