We are free to concentrate on the league now..aye, concentrate on being fourth from bottom. That's the clip of the premier league now..not just with the mags but with every team bar six or seven

To be fair i would rather be in a league where we are winning that the premier league. This business of wanting to host Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool etc is rubbish. I do not support them. I support Newcastle and watching us huff and puff to the odd few wins against WBA or Swansea last season was depressing.

As much as we both take the piss out of each others demise, relegations etc I couldn't agree more. The Premier league sucks the life out of the game for the majority of fans (of the clubs making up the numbers).

What is there to enjoy?

6 at the back against the top 6/7 home or away. Still lose.

Play for 0-0 away to anyone.
Turgid, boring shite in an attempt to grind out 1-0 at home to the 'also-rans'.
17th place finish. Job done!

Beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United at home last season, drew with Liverpool and lost to Man City 1-0 and 2-0 to Tottenham with those tactics.

Was drinking with a mag last night.
As I said to him, Ive real mixed feelings about returning to the so called promised land.
If we do Id like to see us try to be a survival plus cup team ie prioritise cups even, as the other honours are tied up before a balls kicked.

Been there mate, it's just not enjoyable, early days but tbh I can't remember another season for ages that I have enjoyed more than this one so far, prize money aside the prem ain't all that unless you are in with a shout of winning it (* spoiler alert-* you aren't!)

This 100% for me. I’m glad you’re saying it as when we do I think it’s often interpreted as sour grapes.

I’d love for us to be promoted this season and next but I’d not be looking forward to returning to the Premiership at all.

Much in that Mag article to agree with. Fielding a weakened side last night in preparation for Man City away was gross stupidity. Stupidity by the manager not Ashley by the way.
A far more sensible plan would be to field the first XI and put the reserves out at the weekend. They may well have been humped 8-0, we may still get humped 8-0. Obviously some will trot out the protecting goal difference however who was the last team to be relegated on goal difference?

Too often managers blame those upstairs. Yes they all want more to spend which is fair enough i suppose however what about the money they are given?

Has Rafa spent wisely and gained value for money?
Has Jose (another moaning on about investment) spent wisely and gained value for money?

We all know the game is totally different for a hand full of clubs, and that is becoming more apparent as each season comes and goes, however the rest of us still have to live within our means.
