Still think it’s a sad state of affairs we need to do this type of thing in 2026

Last one I didn't really want to carry stuff so thought I would just donate some cash. A bit strange they didn't have a tin / box for donations, I did donate but personally think they are missing a trick as a lot won't carry food but will happily give a pound or 2.
Food banks another thing that had to be brought in under New Tory and Phony Tony, back to victorian times, absolute disgrace.

All these years on from Thatcher and the *hitshow of letting markets decide we are still reaping the consequences...2026 and we need food collections?...we have become a version of the USA, a land of stark contrasts. God help us if the UK Trump gets anywhere near power.

The first modern foodbank appered in Britain in 2000 and the first cross channel small boat refugees crossed in 2015.
By 2015 foodbanks were giving away a million food parcels a year,
Food banks existed, then proliferated well before that. Mostly because the Cameron government deliberately increased absolute poverty to please a certain electoral demographic.

It is madness when you think about it, ppl can’t afford to eat in today’s world, I could break it down further, like how millions is spent on ppl kicking a ball about but that could apply to lots of things

Our clubs wage bill must be well over £1 million a week. A 1% donation of that would make such a difference to the kitchen.
