Flags on pigeon lofts

Do they serve a purpose (i.e. attracting the pigeons back in)?
Noticed this interesting choice of flags this morning. Argentinian, upside down either Irish or Italian (hard to tell because it's faded) and possibly Egypt?

Walked past later and noticed this collection on what I thought was the same loft. (Turns out to be the one behind.)

Must have just been put out this morning as they weren't there in the first photo and the original ones don't seem to be there on the second.

They should put the Swiss flag on those lofts to help the pigeons back in.

They would be a big plus.

Yep is to keep them flying for longer, to get them back in would take the flag down and chuck a couple of tumblers out.

When Ricky and Ralf were talking to someone from sunderland about the flag, the pigeons won’t come home until they take the flag down.

The flags put them off landing and makes them train longer i was brought up with poxy pigeons

Stops them from landing on the daily exercise usually about 40 minutes twice a day, keeps there fitness up ready for the race

When the flag is up the Pigeons will keep flying for excercise

They know they can come back down when the flag is taken down
