First Test - England v NZ

At the age of 21 to have 83 first class wickets at 28 and a batting average of nearly 37 having played all his cricket in division one is outstanding. Once he has matured a bit and gets that consistency which will come sooner rather than later it will be Englands gain

Neither is good enough as of yet.

Its spitting apparently and the lights are on too .....Current run rate is 1.97...that's dozing off cricket...NZ bowling and fielding well here

TBF we are a disiplined side in terms of bowling.... its just our batting isnt the best.... other then brendon we dont have any real stars unfourtunatly

If England are struggling to make runs one assumes NZ will find it just as tough if not harder as England on paper have a far superior batting line up

Not the most scintillating day's play, but a good solid batting performance from England, and proper cricket beats the white ball every time. Just need to up the run rate a bit in the morning to get ourselves a good lead.

To lift the gloom, ive just been listening to geoff boycotts espn podcast where he ponders the meaning of life, and the optimum way to cut holes in your boots.

Well worth a listen, imo.

Link me up hefty! That could be better than the days play.

Why is everyone so down on the days play? If it was interesting day, where it was evens between bat and ball. I actually thought New Zealand bowled well today.
