First cricket match I remember watching

The first time I saw professional cricketers with at the Callers games at Jemond. I saw West Indies there once . Absolutely brilliant days.
The old man loved his cricket and would take me to the likes of Ashbrooke, Wearmouth, Whitburn , Philadelphia ( about when Steve Greensword was playing) , Boldon etc

Some great memories on here.
First cricket I ever remember watching on TV was the touring Indian team of 1974. They were dreadful. All out for 42 in one game. I remember Madan Lal hit his wicket when his cap fell off onto it. I remember a grizzled Geoff Arnold and not much else, apart from a commentator comparing India to "an average county team".
Then came Pakistan and the previously mentioned Asif Masood, taking two or three steps away from the wicket before turning round and running towards it.
We were having a family holiday in a caravan in the lakes, a nice upgrade from the usual camping holiday, when I persuaded/begged my dad to take me to the Test Match at Headingley Day 4 v the West Indies in 1976.
As we were walking into the ground, a half hour late, a huge roar went up, I got up the steps just in time to see Viv Richards walking back to the pavilion, stumps all over the pitch, he'd just been bowled by Willis.
Collis King scored an incredible 58 off 58 balls. It just wasn't done to score that fast then. No sixes though.
Saw highlights of that day and Richie Benaud called it something like "as good a day's Test cricket as you'll ever see"
First time I saw a "Durham" team was the Senior League 11 v Yorkshire mentioned upthread.
Then the Gillette Cup in 1979 v Yorkshire. We batted well enough, but remember it as not quickly enough. One of teachers saw me and told me "I should be at school".
Somewhere in the middle of all that, I saw Lance Cairns and Wasim Raja hitting sixes at Hetton Lyons.

I think it was in 1998 when I managed to sneak in to a Gloucestershire match in Cheltenham because Courtney Walsh was playing.

I had got into cricket properly with the 97 Ashes, then watched every second I could of the 98 winter tour of the West Indies, so as a 12 year old cricket nut was properly excited at the prospect of watching Walsh play within walking distance of my house. Can't remember anything about the match other than wondering how any batsman could even see the ball when Walsh delivered it.

First test match I went to was England v Australia at Edgbaston in 2005
