I have no idea.

How long have we been shouting about the lack of openers? It must be years. Many have been tried but none have grabbed their chance. Short answer is that County Cricket must produce proper openers while at present it's producing middle order player after middle order player all seemingly focussed on hitting the ball as hard and as far as they can.

Struggled since the days of Strauss and Cook truth be told.

:lol::lol: this England team only know how to attack and badly. It's a one day team in test format.
Nail on head.

Could be something to do with the head coach being an expert in the former, employed on a remit to win the world cup at expense of everything else.

Both teams batting line ups arent great (Smith being the obvious nemesis) so its going to come down to the bowlers. Archers pace might make a difference (not being a bowler light will certainly help. Just go to hope we find a spin solution).

*Im working on the assumption Smith isnt going to get a ton every innings.
