Ferg on Keano

Roy Keane, speaking to ITV about Sir Alex Ferguson criticising him in his autobiography [1852]: "I'm OK, quite relaxed. I remember having conversations about loyalty when I was at the club and I don't think he knows the meaning of the word.

"To constantly criticise other players that brought him success… I won't be losing any sleep over it.

"I just don't think the manager needs to do it. I don't know how many books he's written now. A lot of these players helped win a lot of trophies. It's just part of modern life. People like to do books and criticise ex-players.

"I'll have to do another book!"

Do not mess with Keano :):)

Ferguson is a classless twat shocker.

Imagine Wenger coming out with a book slagging off all his former players.

Fergie was obviously a great manager but has there ever been a more arrogant man in football? Has an opinion on everything and let's the world know it, I still think how he reacted to our 'Poznan' was hilarious, how dare little jumped up Sunderland do that to him and his players! Bye Fergie the majority of fans won't miss you and your condescending ways.

Ferguson just by what he achieved will always be respected.
Other than from Man U fans though he will never be loved, basically because he was a twat.

My two regrets from that season are not being at West Brom and Cardiff. Both were top at the time and we beat both. Cardiff was supposed to be like the 70's and 80's with loads of the 'old lads' coming out of 'retirement' for the day. Not that hooliganism is my thing but it was supposed to be a good day. Must be one of the last times our fans stood anywhere (Peterborough in the cup apart).

The weather was horrendous that day. And they threw everything at us to be fair, but we defended brilliantly. I think Chopra is still in Nosworthy's pocket to this day.

I'd like to see the full context of those quotes. I don't think they look all that damning.

These two clearly just relate to Roy Keane the player getting on and getting past it...

“He thought he was Peter Pan. Nobody is.’’

‘‘I believe that ’s behaviour pattern changed when he realised he was no longer the of old… I think he could see the truth of what we were saying to him, but to surrender to it was too damaging to his pride.’'

It's just the reality of getting old, and some players struggle with that.

Books are supposed to give fans an insight. Everyone knew there were a few issues with beckham and keane so he has explained them. It's not like he said either were shit is it? Shame more managers aren't like him and we would have less players using their muscle (see our twats for full details)

"His two spells in management proved one thing: he needs money."

Like Fergie has being doing it on a shoestring for all these years.

I joined in the Poznan but it was a bit small time

Spent a lot of money to assemble that poor squad mind.

Despite the negatives, some of my best times as a Sunderland fan were under his reign. The promotion season under him was the first time I could afford to go to matches by myself, had some brilliant days out and the momentum we gradually built up after Christmas was fantastic.
In fairness we were always gonna pay over the odds for the kind of players we wanted to get us up/keep in the Premier League. That money did the job it was intended too though tbh. Probably my favourite Sun'lun manager of my lifetime. Still wish to this day he'd had a better assistant manager than Tony Loughlan
