Favourite War Film

In seriousness I liked We Were Soldiers, mainly cos years before it was ever made I read the book written about it by the journalist who was actually there (complete with photo's from his cameraman) and it told the story in great and vivid detail.

It was the first major contact between the Americans and the Vietnamese and crazily the whole war could well have been decided in that battle had it gone a different way... Don't want to go on and spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but IMO definitely worth a watch. Although a good while since I saw it, not sure how it's stood against the test of time. Hell of a (true) story though

Battleground. About the Battle of the Bulge. Germany's last desperate attempt at a counter attack.

Made in 1949 you'd expect heroic endeavour and a lot of chest beating but every character in the film considers desertion at some point. Turn the heating up cos the film makes you feel cold.

M*A*S*H for obvious reasons.

Tears of the Sun 9/10 Bruce Willis at his best. Probably based on a true story.

John Rambo 9/10 Sylvester Stallone
