Fan zone in town

Always has been and still is that mindset
People happily slag Sunderland off but go and do the same thing shopping night out or whatever as though doing this in Sunderland is below them
My s-in-law is a prime example
But what is in Sunderland ? Newcastle has much better shopping and nowadays Boro does aswell. Same for nightlife Newcastle is upper tier, Boro is even better than Sunderland for that
Wtf, even if it was bouncing that is dreadful, what are they thinking charging people for that piece of shit.

Something Speakman would serve up that.
Is it just me or does the screen need to be at least 4 times the size ?

Boro definitely does not. Moved down last year and it’s absolutely rotten

The place is a shithole but people on here are massively biased. It’s certainly no worse than Sunderland and has much more going on. This board loves to say everywhere else is a shithole but then defends somewhere which is consistently ranked as one of the worst in the UK. IIRC isn’t it the only city losing population?

There’s absolutely nowt going on in Boro. Nothing at all. Place is like the result of an apocalypse. Nowhere decent to eat or drink. Go 10-15 mins away to yarm or stokesley and there’s some good spots but there is nowt worth seeing in Boro at all.

When was the last time you visited boro out of interest? I reckon in the 90's boro probably did have a slightly better shopping offer, now it's declined more than sunderland has. It's really grim

The very centre of Boro is decent as is the run up to where the Irish bar and the craft ones are. Food places are far more extensive than Sunderland. Shopping is decent enough but is heading downhill.
Correct. People on here are in massive denial of how bad Sunderland has gotten. The city is still stalling on reinventing itself for the 21st century. Was gutted Aphrodite has gone though as it was a diamond in the rough and the only thing I’d ever been to Sunderland on a non matchday

Constantly ranked worst? I remember Jeff Stelling having that meltdown when boro got voted worst place in the country. Also Official deprivation stats do put boro as one of the worst places in UK.

Yes but that’s a low baseline to set. Sunderland people should want better than fighting for the wooden spoon with Boro and Hull etc

Surely we’ve had fan zones before in Green Tce etc . Didn’t the pub owners contribute to the costs ? Even if the tax payer had to contribute, it would be good for the City Centre .
Maybe the bars around wouldn't cover the costs , so the council let the current fanzone be set up.
