F1 2026

Charles didn’t even make any sense - he said 3 brakes failed completely yet locked up both axles, which wouldn’t be possible in a complete brake failure. He’s very negative about a lot of things and it doesn’t help him.

Lewis was a strong reason why Mercedes went with the Carbon Industry brakes back in 2014 too, moving from Brembo then also, and it’s stuck for 12 years now.

It’s all he’s whinged about all weekend. They don’t make that much of a difference, and if they did I’d question why he hasn’t changed them in 8 seasons at Ferrari until now
Confirmation bias. The first thing he said was "don't blame me" and without knowing the track looked like a rural B road, he was utterly convinced it could only be the brakes.

I think he thought the front left failed because it had no grip, due to being pebbledashed.

Pissed off one of Ferrari long term partners as well.

Lewis is serenely getting faster while Charles is getting more rattled.

Surely not. Any competitive team would surely be testing all options periodically and if there was a major performance differential like Charles suggests it would be impossible to ignore. Unless the differential isn’t actually as significant as stated.

no, i genuinely think its the kind of change only a world champion can make. prost did a podcast a few years ago (beyond the grid), where he talks about how renault lost the title back in the early 80s due to reliability problems, this is gonna be vague but there was a particular supplier that was french that renault insisted to use even though their parts kept failing... prost would bang on about it but nothing was done about it... he then moved to mclaren where there wasnt that kind of emotional bond to companies & mclaren would drop anything that wasnt 100% nailed on...

i could imagine an inbuilt mindset like that would apply to ferrari too...

edit: i also think there's a little extra thing with ferrari where the cars are held in god like status above drivers... i think schumacher was able to change that & rise above it through his own innate abilities.
