F1 2026

He's quietly driving very well in recent times too. Practically level with Charles now, which we all said would be very very hard considering its Charles' team.
People said he wouldn't match him, ever. Others said it would be amazing achievement to just hang with him under pseudo #2 status

Well, its happened.
He's a distance ahead of Charles now

Starting to look more and more like the ground effect era just wasn’t for him

Charles was making some kind comments pre race weekend about the changes to the team back in Italy that only a multiple world champion could make… didn’t say what, but that whatever is going on behind the scenes has from Charles point of view been very positive.

Almost 20
Yeah just seen that ! Still an impressive age to be pulling this off

Side issue and question … why are Sky showing so much of this season on Sky Sports Main Event … i love that they are because I don’t for the F1 Channel but its a strange move from Sky

I mean it’s literally called main event. The biggest sporting event at the time will be on. Usually the F1 clashes with the football so is only on when it’s not the football season.

Sure the cricket was on main event yesterday but due to the rain they just showed the F1. Like you say nothing else on so it’s either show the F1 or a random repeat of the boxing or a golf tournament.

But this season is the first one where its been on Main Event though …

In defence of George he’s deservedly behind Antonelli but has also had some rotten luck this season.

China - faster all weekend until his car randomly stopped working going into Q3
Canada - car breaks down when he was leading the race. At worst he would’ve been second
Monaco - team ruins his race by not taking his five second penalty

He’s 60 points behind but at least 40 of those are completely out of his control.

Alpine has submitted a right to review for the speeding penalties, what do the FIA do if it’s proven those penalties were incorrect?
The problem is that because so many were issued and served, its impossible to just rollback. If it was just Gasly, you could just reverse it and re-promote him to P3, but you can't give Lewis the 5 seconds back or he wins the race, and you can't give George it back given the drive through shambles.

I'm not sure this is entirely true - in Monaco he was explicitly told not to pit, as he would lose track position to Hadjar and they could have gapped him by staying out and served the penalty into nothing. He caused the chaos and that's unfair to blame on the mechanics when they weren't even expecting him and had to rush back for his tyres and things.

China I don't buy that someones car just "stops working" - there's another explanation, probably a setup change gone wrong, that explains this.

This is ofcourse correct but he comes across as a right ego - so let's stick to the preferred narrative.

Long Live Kimi.
