Great to see cars can go near each other, it was said to be a problem created by the last regs but it had been happening at least a decade imo where cars struggled to follow closely

Interesting to see how losing Ferraris start advantage lasts, either through other teams cottoning on how to do it or getting it outlawed somehow, I think Merc will eventually pass them regardless most races as it stands but it could be a difference maker between Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren

Good start to season for Bearman continuing where he left off, impressive from Linblad on debut
 
Just watched.
Bear in mind we ALWAYS forget Melbourne is usually a terrible race and we have to remind ourselves not to read much into it.

So for it to have been such decent race bodes well.

Enjoyed the first stint. Following doesn't seem as difficult.

And if nowt else, the cars look so much nicer now.

Yeah, I dont see how they can outlaw a smaller turbo that Ferrari use. Other teams might get their bigger turbos to spool faster but until they get a grip, the Ferrari's will be shit off a stick at the start.

I think that was as good a race as Ferrari could have hoped for tbh. Went toe to toe with Merc and weren't blown away. Hamilton showed good race pace too.

Mercs definitely have the faster car but its not 8/10ths per lap like Qualifying suggested.

Can't say im a fan of the super clipping but as a race, it wasn't the worst.
 
Watched the race and it was canny class for the first 20ish laps. Over as contest when Ferrari didn’t put in the VSC.

Haway the brits mind, loads of them this year!

Didn't warm straight away to the Indo-Swedish Brit with the estuary accent, but he has had an absolutely flawless weekend, and bang on the pace immediately. Super impressive.
 
Important to remember it’s in Mercedes best interest not to have too big a gap pace wise. Thanks to the ADUO rules if mercedes are seen to be dominating the other engine manufacturers will be granted additional development
 
Killer start by Charles. I think the Mercs have something up their sleeve.
LH looked comfortable in the car. If he and Charles work together they can maybe control the gap and be ready to take advantage of any slip ups.

What are those?
I know they’ve got expansion and contraction under control regarding the engine. It would be a shame to penalize them for figuring it out.

In the F2 feature race Alex Dunne went down the outside of his Rodin team mate down the main straight before chopping across in front of him and braking hard and early for turn one. Looks like he felt squeezed and decided to brake test him in a tantrum. Dunne approaching Dan Ticktum levels of entitled twattishness now, and his chances of an F1 seat ever are surely evaporating. Helmut absolutely ruined him, head has gone!

I think there will be a lot of learnings from that race from everyone. I am sure I heard they were not going to show battery percentages, then at some point of the race they turned up when it was clear it was something people needed to see. I also think they need to do something quite visible for when a driver is using the overtake mode. When we had DRS it was very clear the rear wing was open, with an extra boost of electrical energy it is not. Putting it on screen should be very easy, but I would suggest some kind of light on the cars for those in the grandstands. It goes without saying that teams will have learnt a lot and will improve rapidly.
