Everyone one else left in the League Cup wants to play us.

I've no affiliation to Sunderland at all but since becoming a member of this site and the welcome I've had I genuinely look out for Sunderland's results now and have to admit I am rather excited by your cup run.
I was on a flight to the UK whilst you were playing QPR and the first thing I did upon landing was check to see if you had won!!

I will be at Hillsborough next week, my first game for about 3 years, but apart from that game I want to see you progress.

If I was a Sunderland fan I would be wanting Arsenal at home. Glamour tie with a chance of winning. Be great to see you in the Semi's.

Good hopefully teams continue to take us lighty. On twitter before kick-off the QPR fans were saying they should take off their best players at half time when the game was won, I think maybe that's part of the reason for their epic meltdown.

Why on Earth would anyone think that the side 30 league places below the 2nd lowest placed side left in the competition would be the weakest? I have no idea!

It is the easiest tie.
This, if anyone thinks otherwise they're idiots.

Yeah we will hopefully give it a go and really take the game to all of them but we're still the easiest game.

Bring on Spurs

I don't want Leicester, West Ham or Brentford.

Edit: It would be amazing if we turned Moyes over in either the QF of the semis

Well I have some sympathy for the OP.
Perhaps he refers to the same contempt shown towards Bradford City in 2013 by Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Bradford were 4th tier.

In these situations we have nothing to lose and perhaps even in defeat we might win a few plaudits for a spirited and plucky show. If our opponents dare to lose they will become almost as big a laughing stock as the Mags did when they lost to Hereford. The team that draws us at this stage is still going to have to face Premier league clubs in the semi's and the final they are hardly going to get an easy passage to he trophy.

If I were an Arsenal player with the amount of stick they are getting I would want to keep well clear of SAFC and take my chances with another Premier league side rather than risk any shit happening with Sunderland as small a risk as that may be.

its logical really, if we were still in the Premier League, and a league one side was still in the tie we would want that draw as well, as we would consider it a direct route to the semi finals, with the hope of winning the trophy etc, boot is on the other foot now.

Should be good motivation for the lads who will be able to enjoy the occasion and play with freedom given there will be minimal expectation on us advancing. Plus the opposition will likely play some of their 2nd string thinking they should be able to do the job at a canter. Just hope Dan Neil doesn’t impress too much 😬
