European Nights

Joebaker1

Full Back
I'm just looking at tonight's fixtures in both the Europa League and the Europa Conference.
Some famous names in both. Ajax, Slovan Bratislava, Olympiakos, Dynamo Kyiv, Rapid Vienna,Fiorentina. Also a few I've never heard of.
Be absolutely brilliant if we could, at some point, be playing in a European competition. Very difficult to qualify I know, and a long way to go before we have the possibility of doing so, but SAFC v Dinamo Zagreb has a certain appeal to it.
I'm sure KLD is looking forward to us playing Olympique de Marseille under the lights on a Thursday night😉

But not in the Scottish League, you could say the same thing about being in the Irish or Welsh league.
Just saying its not a competition for the best teams in Europe by ranking but a competition for the best teams in the various leagues around Europe and therefore somewhat diluted.

was thinking the same last night watching villa. all these clubs in england who are similar status to us or in some cases much 'smaller' have played in europe since 2000:

man united
man city
arsenal
spurs
chelsea
liverpool
villa
leicester
everton
west ham
brighton
stoke
fulham
birmingham
ipswich
leeds
fulham
blackburn
southampton
millwall
newcastle
boro
bolton
portsmouth
wigan
swansea
hull
southampton
wolves
burnley
bradford

surely its our turn at some point?

Mid week games do there'd be loads of empty seats and barely any away fans bar British/Irish/Dutch opposition.

it would be in the early rounds if we played loads of games. i imagine if we were in some knock-out qualifier like villa last night, it would be a massive crowd. and the away games would be amazing at first

First game I ever saw was a European night at Roker Park, so there.

And Nick Sharkey outshone one of the all-time greats, Eusebio.

Hibs at home early stages we wadnt fill the ground as a PL club even with 4-5k Hibs.

Shhh we’ve got no money. We’re doing everything cheap so KLD can get money out of the club and Speakman can’t get a big bonus etc etc.

We have 3 on the books and another one to join. Weird you choose to ignore that
In truth we probably have 5-6 on the books but none are currently fit for purpose. The chances are only one will be this season.

The one about to sign, well, he’s been on the cusp since the end of last season and prior to that we claimed to have been after 4 in January.
