Europa or Conference League

Plus we are in a position where it shouldn't be too hard to hit the extra stringent UEFA financial rules, that might not be the case once we've built the squad up some more.

For "easier" group games we could put a side out like this:

Ellborg
Hume O'Nien Seelt Hjelde
Rigg Browne Aleksic
Jocelin Mayenda Mundle
Immediately a pretty strong team to play against teams from Slovenia, Moldova and Croatia, without making a single signing.

In reality we'll probably have better backups than some of the above in the squad.

Also, toss off both domestic cups.

This ^.

If we do get into Europe, then the focus has to be the league and European competition. The league cup and FA cup are written off immediately.

If the first team aren’t playing in Europe there’s no need to toss off anything domestically. The whole point of being in the PL (for me) is to have a squad capable of winning something.

Agree with your European team though
The first team would have to play in some games in Europe tbf, there are some big clubs gonna be in next years conference league, Rangers, Ajax, Atalanta.

I think everyone agrees PL is the bread and butter and has to be the priority.

Rangers aren’t a big club mate.

As the mags proved this year though mate, the majority of PL squads can’t fight on four fronts.

If we do it on Sunday, we need to be realistic next season

Would be typical for us to qualify for what looks the toughest Conference League in years.

Freiburg, Atalanta, Rangers, Besiktas, Braga will all be in it. As could Ajax.

Would be a class experience regardless of how far we got like.

Why does everyone think confrance league makes no money. West Ham when they won it got 20m plus
Chelsea got 18m. But its also about cost of travel, hosting, extra bonuses etc etc. There's a lot more outgoings for clubs, especially those with greater overheads

We actually want Chelsea to beat Spurs in midweek now. If they do it knocks Fulham, Everton and the Saudis out of the European race going into the final day and has zero effect on what we need to do next Sunday as we have to win anyway.

If Chelsea do win its a straight shoot out between Brentford, Brighton, Chelsea and Us for the last two spots.

A Chelsea win also maintains the hilarious possibility of Spurs being relegated.
Ok, I’m in

Not all things can be down to the balance sheet, its laughable the amount of European games we have ever had, so any European competition would be immense, way too many snobs turn their noses up at the cup competitions which are the only realistic thing we could do really well in

If we just always look at the balance sheet rather than the on field stuff may as well not bother with the league or fa cup ever because a place or two higher in the league makes more than doing well in either. We've won one major honour in nearly a century

Its all about team progression if we want the team to get better, it means advancing in Cup competitions as well as the league

I have no real complaint, mearly responding to how teams can lose money in this competition. I dont think the conference league should exist but it does, and if you are in it you play to win, its a trophy at the end of the day and Europe is something weve never really got to experience. I dont think qualifying for the conference will suddenly open up a better quality of player than we could probably already attract as a premier league team though.

Quality of player comes down to money, only the clubs that can spend stupid money can get or hold onto the real stars...but of the rest it comes down to how the team can perform and ambition, and that will include the cups. I doubt there's many Palace fans sitting there now saying whats the point of this conference league we've finished 3 places lower than we could have in the league not playing on a Thursday night in europe

Which one gets us to Milan? Might as well get that monkey off our back!

Both Milan teams have qualified for the Champions League.

Looking at the Serie A table on the BBC, Juventus are in the Conference League, not Atalanta.

Never said fans wouldn't once you go deep into the competition. Just stating even without European conference we can still kick on and do well next year if our recruitment remains at this sort of success. Europa league has that little more prestige that players may move for.
Our team will also be more experienced, settled and cohesive next year, which can only help too. For our fans starved of anything for so long, especially European football, I hope results do fall for us on the final day. Its been an excellent season that I wouldnt have dreamed of when we won promotion.
So no matter what happens, its been hugely successful. To think 10 years in the premier league last stint, and the best points total we got was 47 points. To surpass that first season back, and potentially finish just 4 points shy of reids best season.
