Europa or Conference League

I have not seen my beautiful club in Europe in my lifetime so for that reason either. I would also say should we miss out on Europe it still has been an unbelievable season with so many high points. I just hope we can build on this next season and really establish ourselves back at the top tier of English football.

Is that for either competition hope so im in America start of the season so would miss qualifying
For Europa League the Premier League qualifiers go straight into the League Phase.

For Conference League the Premier League qualifier has to get through a knockout round to get to the League Phase.

In the Europa League Phase a team will play eight games.

In the Conference League Phase a team will play six games - however, as they would have already played a two legged knockout round it effectively is eight games for teams in the League Phase.

Whatever English team gets into the conference league is immediately the favourite to win the thing imo. The financial difference is negligible really, couple of million at best for a comparable run to say the semi finals. Similarly with the reputational side, I don’t think many players would care that much between the two.

I’d choose the conference every time, as there’s a very real chance we win it. English teams have cleaned up year after year in that tournament - and a good chance we win it again this year.

Absolutely this. We’ve been given a bit of a gift with the way results have panned out to give us a chance to qualify, but I do hope if we lose to Chelsea that there isn’t an exodus before full time and booing at the end as they’ve done exceptional no matter how the last game pans out.

Why would it be a gamble? What’s the point in football if we don’t try and achieve everything we possibly can.

We already have achieved everything that I could ever have hoped for. Premier League football. Anything else would be a bonus. Our next challenge that matters most to me is seeing if we can stay up next season. Do the same. But if we can do it getting to see what European football is like then that’s a great extra. I’d love to know how the ticketing process would work for European football and whether or not it would be different from cup or league football.

Why would it be a gamble? What’s the point in football if we don’t try and achieve everything we possibly can. And if we play in it and get relegated then so what, we have been relegated before and probably will be again at some point anyway. The vast majority of our fans have never seen us play in Europe and certainly not as adults.
I explained why I think it's a gamble in post #78.

European footy is a huge distraction and to even consider relegation as a failure option is laughable.

Snap your hand off for either. What a season we've had and fully deserve to be in these conversations. I dont agree at all with this "we aren't ready" stuff. If we finish top 8, we're as ready as anyone else. We'd have a full summer to be ready and they've more than shown they aren't going to just sit on their hands and do nothing.

I remember the same being spouted last season in the play offs 🙄

To be fair our record against European teams in pre season football isn’t terrific. But who cares if we lose every game which is a possibility. It’s just a wonderful boast to be able to say we are in Europe and will be playing some pretty well known big teams. It’s a win-win.

I'd prefer Conference if it happened. 50+ games (55+ potentially) would mean another interesting transfer window as we try to hold on to our best players and add to the squad. We'd probably need another 3 to 4 players of the quality of Mukiele, Sadiki and Alderete to compete across all formats (even more when we play in the Charity Shield the year after :D)
Onwards and upwards.

I'm going with neither.

Acknowledging that Europe would be a tremendous adventure and could readily be described as progress I think qualification would be a dangerous gamble.

Look at what European footy did to Spurs, Forest and the visitors. No rest, little training and the very real risk of relegation.

My preferred route to European footy would be a strengthening of the squad and a sustained assault on the league next year.

That is all
Yes, they've had difficult seasons - but how much of it was down to the carcrash decisions over managerial appointments?
We are (potentially) in a much more stable position.

Looking at the Final table worst finish 12th best finish 7th. For me Conference we have a better chance of winning but what worries me is the depth of our squad and travel next season could make us finish closer to the relegation trap door.
You honestly think our owners wouldnt bring in quality in depth to deal with this?
