Europa or Conference League

We actually want Chelsea to beat Spurs in midweek now. If they do it knocks Fulham, Everton and the Saudis out of the European race going into the final day and has zero effect on what we need to do next Sunday as we have to win anyway.

If Chelsea do win its a straight shoot out between Brentford, Brighton, Chelsea and Us for the last two spots.

A Chelsea win also maintains the hilarious possibility of Spurs being relegated.

But if Chelsea lose then they’ve fucked any champions league ambitions and might end up sacking it all off?

Think I’d prefer a Chelsea defeat and negative momentum and energy.

Either will do. Just hope if it ends up being neither that some fans don't take the hump. Biggest take from this season is how incredible it's been from game one up to now Europe or no Europe.

Yeah this. Loads of people are assuming we are going to beat Chelsea at home. Chelsea. We are capable. But theyre at least equally capable of beating us.
Can you imagine someone telling you five years ago that one day we'd be discussing which European competition that we'd prefer to be qualifying for going into the final game of the season? They'd have been carted off to the funny farm.

What a ride it's been.

Id have thought you were mad last may

I'll take anything, after supporting the lads for 40 years it'll be tremendous just to finally watch us playing in Europe. But let's just see what happens, it's been a fantastic first season back in the Premier League wherever we finish.

How can Chelsea possibly get Champions league?
Villa lose last day, Liverpool win and Villa win Europa League, 6th place get a Champions League spot.

It's plausible that Bournemouth could get beat twice away and Brighton only draw.

I would choose Spurs to win. Knock Chelsea's plugs in after they played decent in the FA Cup final.

Why? Unless I am being stupid if we win non of them can finish above so makes no difference at all and if we win non of them can qualify for Europe either

'Sixth place gets a Champions League spot'? The game has gone mad. It shouldn't be called the Champions League, really.

Aye it's stupid but there was 6 English teams in it this year. It's a cash cow and a far worse competition because of it.

The mags shouldn't have qualified last season but yet another pointless mid season rule change allowed them to qualify in 5th.

Which would you prefer?

Europa has more prestige (and money) but we’d have a better chance of winning the Conference. Probably prefer Europa but I’d be happy with either.
I'm going with neither.

Acknowledging that Europe would be a tremendous adventure and could readily be described as progress I think qualification would be a dangerous gamble.

Look at what European footy did to Spurs, Forest and the visitors. No rest, little training and the very real risk of relegation.

My preferred route to European footy would be a strengthening of the squad and a sustained assault on the league next year.

That is all

Should be rebranded European cup or European league, the champions league format was far superior when it consisted of the champions of each country

Why would it be a gamble? What’s the point in football if we don’t try and achieve everything we possibly can. And if we play in it and get relegated then so what, we have been relegated before and probably will be again at some point anyway. The vast majority of our fans have never seen us play in Europe and certainly not as adults.
