Euro 2028 Stadiums

Hopefully just Jarlath putting a bit of pressure on the incoming new government. Be disappointing if it doesn't get the go-ahead, was in Belfast a couple of weeks back, brilliant city. Would deffo have been trying to get to one of the games at Casement.

It’s not funded by the British government though. Ironically it’s majorly funded by the Irish Government. Development only just started thanks to Stormont being absent so long

It is to be part funded by the British government. They have continually promised to deliver money for it but have refused to give a figure of how much. The Irish government along with the GAA and NI Executive have all confirmed the level of funding they will put towards it.

Newcastle are going to be doing work to the stadium too , be interesting to see if the euros is more important then the stadium improvements

It’s not really a surprise is it

st James is a better ground ( in the eyes of other fans ). It’s in a more accessible and if we are being honest a better city that has a lot more to offer.
The Sol is a better actual stadium but the wongadome is much better suited to a tournament as it’s in a vibrant city centre and has good transport links

Don't think there was one but you'd think we'd be up there with a chance if they don't get the stadium sorted.
Looks like Northern Ireland will be dropping out as hosts as the new stadium isn’t a goer and Windsor Park isn’t big enough…

I did read those group games will just move to other host stadiums, but seeing as Sunderland made the effort to bid as a host along with a suitable stadium already being in place, you’d think someone involved in the initial bid would have the foresight to try and get a foot back in the door.

Would be great for us as we'd see major improvement to the ground.

Club should steam right in there, and offer assistance.

It’s a shame for NI tbh. Really for the start they should have looked at options for Windsor Park.

This could, however, be good news for us.
Hampden Park's not a great ground, and Aviva stadium too with its tiny little stand

I was at the Aviva last week and for a new ground, it’s pretty average.

Hampden is just shite.

You'd assume Anfield if they can sort their pitch dimensions out or Old Trafford if they decide to put off redevelopment would come in.

All stadiums other than Belfast over 50k in capacity so I dont think it’s too much of an injustice we missed out.

1. Wembley Stadium (London) (capacity 90,652)

2. Principality Stadium (Cardiff) (73,952)

3. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) (62,322)

4. Etihad Stadium (Manchester) (61,000)

5. Everton Stadium (Liverpool) (52,679)

6. St James' Park (Newcastle) (52,305)

7. Villa Park (Birmingham) (52,190)

8. Hampden Park (Glasgow) (52,032)

9. Aviva Stadium (Dublin) (51,711)

10. Casement Park (Belfast) (34,500)

Mind I went to a Euro 96 game at Sid James’ and there can’t have been any more than 20k there.
