quote from the daily mail............

''When there is something in the pitch or the weather suits them, as at The Oval, England remain a formidable proposition''

the articles goes on......

''yet when the sun shines and the pitch is flat as at Headingley and again at Lord's, the hosts limited overs limitations appear all too likely to be ruthlessly exposed''

So yes Rentaghost its great that Jimmy 'one trick pony' Anderson can pitch it up and do all sorts on a damp one but to be the best we need to be able to beat the best sides on flat wickets and until we start developing mystery spinners or out and out quicks like Saj we will never be more than a decent intl side in an era of poor intl cricket

it talks about ODI cricket not test cricket so you're not right yet again. Everyone on here would agree if its a flat wicket in ODI cricket we are useless.

the one day side is shit beyond belief no arguing about that ...

how the fuck do you develop a mystery spinner?!?!

Anderson does not deserve his place in the one day side but he is the best swing bowler we have at our disposal so deserves his place in the test side

Broads form is very very worrying the England set up or himself don't know what the fuck his bowling role is at the moment.

you can bang on about out and out quicks but Saj would get absolutely smashed all over the park v the Lankans

Cook Bell and Trott should never bat in the same One Day team ever again

No one is going to argue that we're absolute dogshite at the ODI format man.

Most people actually agree that in an ideal world Anderson shouldn't be in the ODI team, but when his competition is a woefully out of form Broad and a generally woeful Dernbach who else are we going to pick?

Tremlett and Finn get carted around in the 50/20 over games and players like Woakes are nowhere near ready for international cricket. As a test team we have a good variety of bowlers and capable batsmen; the one day stuff leaves an awful lot to be desired though.

you are a clueless, big headed, wanker. You're never f***ing right

Nothing in that article to disagree with. Broads failure to adapt his bowling in recent games on flat pitches has got many people talking about his place including Tuffers and Vaughan last night - he has struggled compared to Jimmy on these flat pitches lately but after Jimmys success in 35 degree heat and cloudless skies in Aus theres nobody better for Broad to learn from so he must stay in the team.

nowt in there backs up your patter

in test cricket anderson is excellent, which is all people have been saying.

you bang on about one trick pont stuff, which is bollox. remember the clear blue skies in oz that he'd struggle under!? the excuses were tremendous

yes he does do better when in swinging conditions, cos he's a swing bowler. just like tremlett does better on bouncier tracks and swann does on decks which take turn. funny that isnt it!?

That'll be the only change IMO to the squad. Starting XI doesn't change, with the only possible change being Bresnan in for Finn.

absolutely no chance

finn is a cut above

cook should be dropped but wont be.....

id go

strauss
trott
pietersen
collingwood
morgan
prior
broad
swann
anderson
onions/shazad
finn

need 5 bowlers out there imo, altho im pretty sure they'll go with the side that just beat pakistan

Cook was playing poorly. fact. his previous efforts against the aussies were poor. fact.

what you do is look to see who is in favour and dig at them until they eventually have an off day and then say 'i told you so' and vice versa for those who are currently playing shite. (broad).

if we listened to you we'd all think tahir played test matches for SA and Anderson wouldnt have gone to Australia (Mahmood would have instead)

just showing up the english mentality.

Last summer it was Cook now its Broads turn, who next

Anderson? If it was up to you he'd have been out of the team years ago, and yet you still can't concede he's proved you wrong.

if you had followed the argument from the start you will realise when were ranked 1 in the world I will admit I was wrong

I don't actually think anyone is cricitising Broad per se. I'm just bamboozled as to why someone would claim he is the best player England have produced since Botham when he's done little up to now. His performances lately have been poor, but he's shown he can dominate teams, take wickets and score runs. Just needs to start doing it on a more regular basis. Giving him the T29 captaincy was a mistake as he isn't ready for it yet.

ah i see, so whether or not we are ranked no.1 all boils to down to one man

so if and when we are, jimmy gets all the credit

I hate to piss on your parade but India have pulled further away as we could only muster a 1-0 series win at home

Unfortunately, we have no star quality in the bowling to take us to number one

Muster? The way the rain ruined the series we did well to win it at all. We will still go number 1 if we beat India, won't we?
