Eoin Morgan ODI record

I don't hate Morgan and I'm convinced he was being groomed to replace Pietersen in the test side

However when he couldn't hack test match level, he has been excellent in Odis and all the more so, since cook and bell were dispensed with.

Remember when we used to bat 30 overs in test match style scoring between 120 and 140, then expect Morgan, bopara etc to come straight into T20 mode?

That was Moores master plan though

I think the style of his batting means he goes through more peaks and troughs than most. a run of low scores always seems round the corner but when he's in form he is terrific.

top fielder too.

He annoys me because he's a huge talent and hasn't given red ball cricket a proper shot. Great to watch in the shorter stuff. Proper biffs it.

A very good captain, tactics wise excellent
Yup, good batsman but I can't think of anyone who'd be able to command the team as well as him. I think he learnt a lot from McCullum when they were both at Middlesex and he should be given as much respect for our improvement as Bayliss and Farbrace. Interesting that Root says he wants to take some of the things Morgan does into his test captaincy, the players seem to have a massive amount of respect for him.

We can suffer his temporary losses of form as he is such a good leader on and off the field. A shame he never made it at test level as he would have captained there too.

In terms of leadership and bowling to plans, he is more effective than root as a captain. Shame he didn’t kick on in test matches

I think he had the natural talent and mentality to make it at test level if he’d been given more time to adapt his game, whether he’d have wanted to at a time when T20 was exploding is another issue though
