Enzos interview

He's a top, top quality player and a lovely man. Can't say more than that. Will get capped by France after the World Cup.
He’ll be 30 by the 2030 WC
More than likely France will be ushering in a new generation after this WCwho will all be mid 20’s at their peak
Be lovely to see but France seems to have a conveyor belt of talent
I wish my Dad was around to compare him with someone like Shack.

I suspect Shaxk is greater but I can only guess that ELF is currently second.

I have never seen anyone as gifted play for us.
He’d seen his best years but Jim Baxter was still one hell of a player when we signed him
He seemed to turn it on against better teams
Saw him against Man Utd ( best, law Charlton, crerand) and he played them by himself it seemed
Jinking past players, long and short passes etc etc.. he had it all
Best penalty taker I ever saw

Most talented all round footballer I’ve seen in a Sunderland shirt, crazy to think we signed him in the champion and some thought he was over rated.
After a decent start I didn't think he was anything special last season. I'd always thought he'd be better in the PL and he hasn't disappointed.

I won't be adding anything that hasn't been said about this little genius but no matter what happens from here, wherever his career may take him, we'll never forget that he came to us in the Championship. Ignored his advisors and all football logic to leave Roma and come here. What a man. 👏👏👏

Really wasn’t sure he would be up to the premier league, glad to be proven wrong, joint player of the season for me.
One player who has improved massively and I don't mean improved in terms of he was bad, but he was quality in the championship but has gone a different level again.
Just hope to fuck next season he is not on the left and he plays behind the striker.
Not going to give RLB pelters but on the left he is wasted and we all knew it

You can see too how much what Luke said about him meant to him. It's not just Granit Xhaka that the younger and not so younger players look up to.

Talking about the togetherness of the team after the match Regis said that Granit and Luke ."Set the tone" .

There’s a lot of leaders in that team not just leaders but role models to the younger lads

Reinildo xhaka Mukiele le fee alderete geertruida onien hume all massive examples to the young players one way or another

"This is football..." - Love how he mentions that they want to play in the big games and next year it will be the Europa League.

Contrast to the "be careful what you wish for" thread on here...

The players will rise to the challenges next season, I'm sure. Plus any new additions. Exciting times - this is what football is about!

You have to lap it all up and let it soak in because seasons like we've just had and with a group of players all pulling in the same direction, they just don't come around very often. I'm 55 and that's the best season in my Sunderland supporting lifetime.

Exactly...and as much as finance rules and managing extra games are valid concerns and a new challenge, we have to back the club to have a good go at getting it right...

Ultimately football should be about progress and winning trophies...you have to aspire to that otherwise what is the point?

Some people said we'd be better off with another season in the Championship last year and look at us now!

Players like Xhaka don't just come here to accept 2nd best...which was reflected in his words on the pitch after the game. Exciting times.
