Striker
Jimmy,Stokes and Broad all bowl right handed and bat left handed.

Cook,Ballance,Ali all bat left handed and bowl right handed.

Something I was randomly thinking about today, very bizarre that we have so many in the side with this ability.

Read something once that most people actually bat the wrong way round. If you are right handed you should bat with your right shoulder facing the bowler.
I've always thought this like. I bowl right handed and bat left handed, and to me batting that way feels far more natural as it's my right side which is facing the bowler and my right hand is the top hand which does all the work.

I think it's a matter of technique when holding the bat, what I've generally noticed is that a batsman who bats one way and bowls the other will use his bottom hand as a pivot, with the top (dominant) hand doing the work, whereas a batsman who's strong hand is the bottom hand will use his top hand as the pivot point of the bat. It seems to be one of those things that will feel natural one way or the other the first time you ever pick up a bat and it can't be coached away. My coach at school tried to get me to bat left handed as he felt it would improve my technique, it did but I couldn't get the power through the bat with my left arm, so I've just stuck to being a right handed specialist number 11.

I don't think it's something that can be coached into or out of you. It's just whatever feels natural.

Well considering my batting "technique" consists of howking across the line, I probably suit being a right arm bowler and right hand bat

The top hand when batting should be controlling the shots. So if you're right hand is strongest you should be batting left handed.

I'm gonna teach my youngun this way

Closet cuddy wifters.

I'm too fat and unfit to play these days but was a!ways right/right.

I'm sure it was pretty unusual 30+ years ago, teams have made a concerted effort to develop left handed batting.

It is much harder to control the bat with a hand at the top of the handle than when it is nearer the blade, so that has to be the best place for your dominant hand.

However if it is the way you have always played whatever feels more natural is probably best. Which hand do you hold your knife with?

The top hand when batting should be controlling the shots. So if you're right hand is strongest you should be batting left handed.
The bottom hand does all the skilled work in the stroke, while the top just holds the bat steady.
