England World Cup squad news

Marc Guehi coming in for some sickening comments now on X. He came here at 1 year old, is a committed Christian, fully integrated and has represented England at all levels.

Strangely, no such comments on the likes of Ben Stokes or Owen Hargreaves.

“Demographically replaced in the England World Cup team”

Guehi has represented England all the way since U16 level, and there’s no “replacement” when Guehi is comfortably England’s best defender. She’d know that if she actually watched football, but she’ll jump on the bandwagon over the summer no doubt.

I don’t know whats worse, the fact she is a Restore Britain member or that tweet getting nearly 12,000 likes.

Not only is that not generous but it's absolutely ludicrous.

Freiburg are not EPL standard on the basis that Villa beat them 3-0... But Villa beat Forest 4-0 in the previous round who are EPL standard.

Leverkusen also played 4 games against EPL teams in the Champions League, only losing 1 or them (to Arsenal).

Football maths doesn't work.
I don't know what football maths is but there's only 3 shared competitions with EPL and Bundesliga clubs in them. EPL teams have out performed Bundesliga clubs. Villa beat Forest and Freiburg by similar scores. Forest were in an EPL relegation battle. I suspect Freiburg would also if they were in the EPL but they're 7th in the Bundesliga. Forest hammered us so comparing one off games is rather meaningless but the point remains that in the Bundesliga Quansah comes up against Harry Kane twice a season. What other world class strikers does he face? Hardly any because the EPL has bought them all. Ekitike, Sesko all Bundesliga to EPL. Woltemade is top level over there. Kane just had a 60 goal season or something daft like that.
It's hardly surprising. I'm sure the commentator last week said something like the Villa squad cost more than Freiburg have spend on transfer fees in the history of the club.
Inevitable that the EPL is a higher standard than Bundesliga given the different levels of investment. You can't even make a case for the homegrown Bundesliga players being of a high standard at present.

You can download the full spreadsheet here. I’ve combined it with my wall chart so they’re both up on the wall next to each other. Mostly for reference during matches

Think 1-11 is the base of the likely intending starting XI with only potentially James for Konsa And potentially a few options for Rashfords spot
