England vs Sri Lanka - 1st test

Doesn't a 3-0 home victory in this series propel us to number 1? May be wrong but I'm sure I read that somewhere.

It's also fair to say that England won this test despite the weather not because of it.
I read that too. And I also think it's only fair to take advantage of English, er I mean Welsh, conditions when the only reason sub-continent teams have such an advantage over there is because you are suffocating and broiling in the heat.

these cheap wins in the wind and rain arent helping Engand achieving their long term aim because when they go to the sub continent they will get stuffed and until we can win in the sub continent we will never be ranked one in the world
And neither will the Srils until they learn to win out of it.

Re Scotch saying it's not right that Stuart Law only played one Test, well it's just tough. Should George Best have been allowed to play for Italy in the 1970 World Cup because Northern Ireland weren't that good?
If only Peter Bonetti had stuck with Switzerland :-(

To be fair isn't Trotts mother English, same with KP.
Isn't his wife English, which would qualify him too?

quality last days play, which thanks to a uffed back, i saw al lof (would've been out and about probably as i didnt see a result coming).

A test we shouldnt have even looked like winning given how much of the game was lost. very good signs.

Tremlett was tremendous and the boy Swann did his usual damage. Most of the plaudits went to Trott but I thought Bells knock was the pick of the lot. Got some style that lad!

Who gives a toss about the number of Saffers? If they qualify, and are the best we have to pick from, get them in!

I see the usual suspect has got in with the excuses again. Getting the hump when England are doing well is very odd

No.1, here we come  fingers crossed

anyone know what the music was at the end of the test on sky sports? It woke me up at the time and I was hungover tae fuck so I hated it but I'm intrigued as to what the song was, if nobody has the answer i might post another thread asking about it for a laugh so any help would be appreciated, cheers.

He can be annoying when he whinges

but hes some player like... Better than Flintoff?? ability-wise

It's a bit of a cliché but he's got the potential to be better than Freddie. FF could have been the best the world had seen but we all knew about his off the field antics and injuries. If he can stay away from these then he can fulfil the potential that Flintoff had

Fantastic day out today although i'm bright red with wind/sun burn.

Paul Muchall gets about, Durham seconds last week and doing 12th man for England this week.

Dilshan was fantastic
