How the fuck have they given that out? I thought there had to be conclusive evidence.

That tiny mark they've shown looks like it's on the ball from when it's hit the ground.

More importantly though, first wicket of the summer for Jimmy 8-)

Eh? There was a noise as the ball went by, with the bat being nowhere near the pad. There was also a 'hotspot' on the bat at the same height as the balls path. Looked as though the batsman was on his way for a second anarl. Good enough for me like....

Jayawardene would be a huge wicket tonight.

One of the best around him.

indeed. a class act.

id say an evens day all things considering.

Durham > England 8-)

Seriously though, I've barely taken notice of this all day, I've been more interested in Durham's progress. Don't get me wrong, I want England to win and on Saturday when Durham aren't playing I'll be all owa it!

I thought that hotspot was already on the bat and when you saw it front on it seemed to be in the middle of the bat. There seemed to be a mark on the ball but you can't say that was the bat or the ground.

Personally I didn't think there was anything on hotspot that said it was out but I think it was the right decision. Not sure about the batsman starting to walk then changing his mind as I didn't see a shot of that, I thought Sangakarra usually walked.

Snicko confirmed he definitely nicked it, but it shows that hot spot isnt this faultless tool that the commentators always go on about it being.

nope, ball went passed, and as it did the mark appeared.

he has a reputation for walking and uses it to his advantage at times.... last time we were in sri lanka he got an edge so thick it almost chopped the ball in two. he stood and shook his head and stayed put the cheating bassa!

hot spot showed a mark where the ball nicked. im not sure what people are on about here. :-?

What he means is, as the video went on, there was a 'hotspot' on teh face of the bat, from the previous ball or whatever. It looked as though it could just have been the face of the bat changing angle and showing the previous ball hotspot and not the ball nicking the outside edge. If that makes sense.

He was out like, snicko said so.

I couldn't be sure about that tiny mark on Hotspot and the sound seemed to be to me when the ball had passed the bat.

I just thought that to overturn an umpires decision it had to be conclusive proof and I don't think there was in this instance. The DRS was to stop the howlers not for this example.

Snicko proved the 3rd umpire to be correct but thats beside the point.

I agree with that, but the 3rd umpire said he definitely saw a nick on hotspot, if that's the case then it's definitive proof - just it was only the third umpire and dangermows who saw it

prompt start in overcast conditions and anderson is swinging it

133 for 2

as for the review, there was a noise, proven by snicko, a slight mark half way up the bat

so imo it was a perfect example of the UDRS system correcting an error by dr pepper.

:-d:-d:-d:-d

:-D:-D

big wicket

jawardene c strauss b anderson 4

all outswingers then an inswinger takes the edge, which strauss takes well, diving to his right at first slip

133 for 4
