Senanayake had been planning that in my opinion.

Totally against the spirit of the game, but Buttler will learn and not do it as much in the future.

It was f***ing pathetic, Matthews should have stepped in. It's about the only chance the chucker has of taking a legitimate wicket like......

I'm f***ing fuming at Buttler. He was told.

Imagine how shit boring cricket would be if everyone carried on like that, chucking arsehole.
Chucking bit.,,agree. Drum him out of the game. But don't let thicko Buttler off the hook.

I agree.

But once Buttler was aware that the pitcher was that type of bellend after being warned he should have learned his lesson.

Does anyone else think he has entered his delivery stride??

Yes, the non striker should not be trying to steal a few yards before the ball has left the bowler's hand, after being warned.

Disgusting cheating.

In all seriousness, listen to what Alec Stewart has been saying on TMS. The voice of reason. The law is there to be used and if there is no other penalty than being run out what is the point of it?

there's no doubt he had entered his delivery stride. He was about a millisecond from releasing the ball. The rules state the bowler can run you out provided he hasn't completed his delivery swing. Not entirely sure how anyone can complete their swing with the ball still in their hands? Can anyone explain that as it's got me stumped.

You are correct. It is cheating.

I think Buttler was thinking don't be a dick mate, but the chucker is. It's a lesson aye....not the cricket I would play as a Captain like.

Pitcher? Twice in the same thread.

This isn't baseball mate.

Someone should tell him that

In commentary they read out the rules and said cant be rut once the bowler enters his delivery stride (unless I was hearing what I wanted to hear and not what was said)

Hell on. Commentators seem to think it's ok provided he was warned. For me, walking up the wicket shouldn't be allowed so I've no problem with this
I know. I can't understand why you need to be warned for trying to get half your quick single in before the ball is bowled. Cricket might be the so-called gentlemanly game, but you always play hard and by the rules.

Me neither and would tell my bowler to stop being a tit but as their captain hadn't stopped him Buttler should have been a bit smarter.

Exactly.

It's ironic Senenayake is sticking rigidly to the rules, when he can't even bowl correctly and is up for his action.

If the game is gunna be played like that, it will make Cricket as hard to watch as it was years ago.

It's a lesson for Buttler though. Take the warning.

Atherton put Stoneman's name forward a couple of time for the opener.

Are you aware of the rule that states that if the wicket is put down while you are out of your ground you should be given out?

Fully. But having played the game, I am also fully aware that this type of backing up goes on in every single game and 99% of the time it goes unnoticed.

If it is the type of backing up where a batsman is half way down the track then fair enough but that simply wasn't the case today.

Rules are rules and if applied then there can be no complaints and, apart from doubting whether or not he had entered his delivery stride, I have not said Buttler shouldn't be out. However, there are also protocols in the game and I think what Sri Lanka did was a bit petty and not a great advert for the game
