Striker
Jimmy Anderson has been ruled out of the test (no surprise there) leaving a squad of:

Burns
Roy
Denly
Root
Bairstow
Ali
Woakes
Curran
Gregory
Broad
Stone
Leach

Leach to miss out if it's not a dry wicket?

I really think that a 4 day test is a piss take. Just schedule it for 5 and if it finishes early then who cares?

Absolutely mate.

Out of interest, is there going to be more overs in a day in this 4 Day Test?

After the success of the super over, I would like to propose a “super test”. 1 day, 50 overs per team, no draws, 10 overs a bowler. And some fielding restrictions

It’ll make a fortune

What colour ball though.........?

You can say that again mind, making assumptions here but currently a ‘normal’ Test day is supposed to last 90 overs and be played between 11:00 and 18:00, if at 18:00 the overs haven’t been bowled an extra 30 minutes can be added. At 18:30 any overs not bowled are lost. So on that basis, considering also the average over rates seen in Tests in this country, the playing time can go up to 19:00 with the extra hour and we’ll still likely end up losing the same number of overs per day - wouldn’t surprise me if we only see 90 overs tomorrow anyway.

Apologies for the waffle, but it’s about time teams were penalised runs for overs lost.

I think it makes sense (unpopular opinion I know).

We bemoan the lack of ability in modern batsmen to bat time; games are constantly finished inside 3days.
It brings the draw back into play, and let's face it - some of the most thrilling matches of all time have been draws (Colly in NZ, Cardiff 09, Manchester 05).

You can still have your flagship series 5 days as a nod to tradition - The Ashes, for example - but for matches like this, I think it makes sense.

More overs in each day, yeah - don't ask me the amount though.

Roy lucky boy 2 balls in a row. At least he's still there but that's worrying if a medium pacer causing grief.

And now he's gone to other one. Albeit murtagh has played so much cricket here.
