On this particular one I totally agree, but they had certainly been players selected earlier than you would expect who done well.

Smith although was always going to play for England would have had to wait longer under previous regimes imo

Work with a lad from South London who lived there for a time before he moved up here. I said to him recently, isn’t Kent known as ‘the garden of England’ and he replied “yes, but I’ve no idea why, it’s an absolute sh*thole” :lol:

Nice observation from Atherton about the distinctive sound at Lords. You can hear that ‘hum’ on TV.

I agree.

Sent out on loan to a Division Two county and couldn’t even get in their side.

If he was a gun fielder and could actually bat I would understand it, but it’s one of the great mysteries of life to me that they don’t deem Ahmed to be a better option. Given that they’ve essentially admitted that Bashir will ‘learn on the job’, in Ahmed you’ve got a lad there who already has all the attributes you’d want 🤷‍♂️

The best thing about village cricket was always the Teas, it’s an absolute travesty that they’ve gone now - so I would make sure that any tea I provided would more than do itself justice.

One of my least favourite grounds in England. Know it might not be fashionable to say that, but it’s stuffy as owt and the atmosphere there is easily one of the worst in world cricket.

It’s crap. It’s the noise of thousands of people who are largely disinterested and not properly there for the cricket.

File alongside Wimbledon. Atleast there the umpires will ensure silence while the players are trying to serve.

I'm completely with on Lords. Can't say I ever truly enjoy going there.

I am the minority with this but I strongly disagree that there has to be a test match at Lords basically every home series.

The next Ashes furthest north test match is Nottingham that is simply a disgrace
