In the space of 8 balls he's turned the game back in Englands favour, great stuff from the lad so far.

He did, never looked comfortable, I feel his technique needs a good bit of work and he's got through so far on a good eye and immense power.

Indeed. Ben Stokes has so much talent, he hits the ball a mile. But his technique at the higher level looks dodgy to me.

Still a kid mind, so will give him time.

Worth persevering with. Kieswetter's technique was awful when he first came into the side, a few months out and some hard work and he looks a lot more settled at the crease and has more scoring options. Similar work will do Stokes the world of good in the long run.

His technique is still shit, he is a slogger. And I dont think he is a good one.

Stokes should aim to be a bastman. A test batsman. He has a great eye, but needs to work out which shots to play.

It's still nowhere near perfect, but it's much better than what it was.

I think Stokes could be a great number 6 who can bowl a bit, perhaps in the mould of an Andrew Symonds, but could potentially be better IMO.

he is not going to get a chance for a while.

Morgan and KP to come back, Bopara looked better than for a while, Bairstow....he needs big runs next year.

Taylor too, wonder if they'll go back to Carberry aswell as he's been like a machine since he came back from illness.

Won't harm Stokes to have another season of county cricket and be involved with the ODI teams. With regards the test team, as much as I rate Morgan he does need runs as he's been very hit and miss since he came into the team, I think they fancy Bopara as the next in line though, and to be fair to him he's had a good ODI series.

I was talking ODI's only.

For tests....Taylor certainly. Stokes is a mile away. I agree, I am not certain about Morgan.

I am not certain about Bopara at all. Still.

So MOM. Kohli still?

Sorry mate. I like Morgan think he is worth his place but he's 1 good innings and 2 bad at the moment, he needs more consistency. I'm usually unsure about Bopara but he's looked a lot more mature during this ODI series so I'd be happy to keep him around the test set-up for the time being.

ODI squads over the next 12 months should include Stokes, Bairstow, Buttler and Hales without doubt. All type of batsmen that England have been lacking in the shorter format for years.

Kohli would still be a deserved MOM I reckon.

Cant disagree with much of that.

Would probably look at Taylor over Morgan/Bopara for the tests but thats it

wow that Bairstow looked good Bopara looks like he has found his role and tonight is the end of Ian Bell's ODI career thank fuck for that

Bell's ridiculously frustrating at ODI level and isn't improving. Quick 30's do not win you games. As Cook, Trott and Bopara are all improving he is standing still and once KP and Morgan return he has to be one of the fall guys.

IF only that were true...
great stuff from Johnny, but how to accomodate: butler, bairstow, stokes, morgan, cook, kieswetter, pieterson into first choice 11.

looking very good for the next few years could we win the next WC?

India will be a real test next month mind. I hope.

I think it is and I'm pretty sure he knew it going of his reaction.
Come the india series batting lineup has to be:
Keiswetter
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Morgan
Bairstow
Bopara

and with Stokes, Butler, Taylor and perhaps Hales if he has a decent 20/20 knocking on the door there is surely no room for him.

That's even without a fit Morgan, surely there's no way back for Bell now?. He's far too similar to Cook and Trott anyway, and in India it would be almost suicidal to play all 3.

aye forgot morgan as well and he is our best bat. Finally feel like we are getting somewhere with the odi team. Hopefully Dernbach will come on as well.
