Then yes he’d be an amazing 7 but we aren’t in that position.

Butler isn’t a test 5 as long as I’ve got a hole in my arse. He’s a good 7 wicketkeeper bat.


It’s a no brainer really.

I don’t think too much between them when it comes to gloves but Bairstow is a far more solid bat and needs to be top 5, can’t do that and keep wicket.

If he’s sulked they should tell him to go back to Yorkshire. He’d soon come scurrying back.

Completely agree.

People saying Buttler bats over the likes of Bairstow, Stokes and Ali too tbh, need to look at their career statistics and stop being blinded by form.

Bairstow is a better batsman and his sulking is pathetic. It's a privilege to play for England, wherever you are picked.

There was a lad in my office who took that line too. Should f***ing drop Bumble, absolutely disgraceful lack of respect.

He's still more likely to get a ton than Jennings too if we're honest.

I'd have given him his guard of honour, a special award, have him toss the coin etc, then played Burns and Stoneman. The Australians never have any qualms about making tough cricketing decisions.

Cook would probably have been dropped if he hadn't announced his retirement. We will now need to blood a new opener in overseas conditions.

Naturally, I hope he goes on to make a double century.

Should have moved to three as I'd been suggesting (and Nick Compton) for the last two years. Also sack that twat Ramprakash, not right a player of his ability needs to employ his own personal batting coach.

Australia have dropped loads of bigname players in similar circumstances: M.Waugh, Gillespie, Bevan, Moody. Ponting had already been selected for his final test when he announced his retirement. He then continued to play ODI's and was dropped mid-series.

You had no issue with Pietersen being axed after 8000 runs, without guard of honour....scum iirc.

Again, Cook wouldn't have played if he hadn't announced his retirement.

IRL I'd say it's 50:50 whether he should have played. You're a self confessed teenage Cook fanboy and can't see the wood for the trees.
