It’s telling - and depressing - that we’re all (rightly) kicking off over how shit England’s batting is, but nobody seems to be able to point at an obvious alternative. There aren’t many (any?) names being bandied about.
I’m not as up to date with the county game as I used to be, but it seems to me that the conveyor belt is pretty bare. It will be really interesting to see what the selectors come up with for Headingley.

TMS had a good stat on. Most ducks in a year by any test team was 12. This team had 17 in 2021, and that was only when Root got out - so can add Curran and Jimmy to that now. And we still have 5 more tests to play this year

Pope is supposed to be the best batsman in county cricket but hes been absolutely awful

You are right, there are no real options. Next cab off the rank to Sibley is Hameed, who himself has just made a 0 and a 9 this test (and was dropped on 0), so hardly an improvement.
I was being facetious earlier when I said just play all rounders and have a plethora of bowling options, but we might as well try something random like opening with Jos in one day mode or something, as nothing else is likely to work
