England v India (2nd test) Lords

I don’t disagree with you, but I always feel in situations like this that the side chasing has a better chance of winning the fewer overs they have to get the runs.

I can't see a situation here where England win this game. I hope I'm wrong like.

I think I'd be frustrated if I was an Indian fan tbh, it's a very safety first approach but I think the 3 wickets in the first sessions made them shit themselves.
They’ve come in massively on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market though, which tells its own story.

Either way, their odds aren't drifting.

Draw is favourite with the bookies but I’ll be honest, I think it’s the outsider at present.

Guess I look at the game differently guys.

The modern way seems to make sure you don’t lose rather than try to put yourselves in a position to win.

They may have played it perfectly to stop them losing, but ambition to actually win the game I am not seeing
We do always. Once they had lost those two wickets and were -7 for 2 they couldn’t play it any other way. I’m not really sure what else you can do. You won’t get a single pro or commentator saying they should have played it any other way. Fans who have no repercussions for it going wrong often have a different view

Well that’s why I am saying they is too much repercussions and pressure nowadays which sometimes imo stop captains going for a win.

I think early doors you of course right but again there is balance they could start push it along a little bit as the partnership developed, like I say a calculated risk to try and put yourself in a winning position to actually win the game.

It seems disappointing in my view a perfectly poised test is now drifting to defence and more defence.

As they look they grinding the way to a score and then when we get in, we will probably try to grind our way to a draw.

They aren’t likely to win playing like this
At -2 for 2 they were a lot less likely to win.

There’s lots more cricket left in this game

Also got to remember these two have been completely out of form before this innings, may change the performance of the Indian middle order for the rest of the series.

England are playing pretty much at their maximum in this test - or to put it another way, there’s way more downside than upside as Root can’t perform miracles continuously.

India are fine to take a draw here and bank on wins in their final test. Their better side will win out eventually.

The thing is mate, I see your general point but you never know what might happen in future tests, toss, conditions etc. England will be batting last on this wicket and India pushing on even a little bit more for the remainder of today will give them more time to bowl us out

Depends how you view it. At -2/2 they also had a lot more time in the game than they do now. Hard to see any result in this game now
At -2 for 2 and not many more for 3 and a tail that starts at 8 they were a wicket away from being fucked. If they get a draw from the position they were in they have done very well and with 110 overs or so still to play they can still win.

edit: and so can we now what a great game
