England v India (2nd test) Lords

Pakistan tagging in for the 3rd innings? It'd be an interesting concept having a Sub Contintental Lions touring team.

I've got West Indies v Pakistan on. As it happens, the third innings has been very tricky for them so far.

Keep pointing it out, but why do our batsmen keep exposing 9 and 10 to the strike? Root let Robinson and Wood take 50% or more of the deliveries. However good these two might think they are, they're sloggers and a well set batsman should keep them off strike unless we are playing for a declaration. Correctly marshalled the strike with Anderson, but Jimmy played a daft shot.
That should automatic mate, especially a brilliant player like Root should take nearly all the strike if possible

Yup, he exposed Robinson to 60% of the strike and Wood just under 50%. We'd have been fucked without him but if he'd marshalled these two we'd still be batting and looking at 450 or so

Watching that last over again by bumrah. He defs bowling no balls on purpose

twats

not necessarily like. It’s not that easy,

plenty of tops batsmsn let bowlers have strike

shouldn’t be shielding Robinson at 8 likr

But not from 340/5 you wouldn't. Joe's innings masked another pathetic collapse from the tail.
Think you’re being very harsh on the tail. Bigger questions again should be aimed at the top order. The tail bat where they do for a reason and are a get out of jail free card rather than something to be relied on too much. Id throw more blame on Hameed, Sibley, Buttler and Ali tbh

of course but the tail were poor

needed to dig in for captain

The top order are shite but 51/5 is still a collapse. As mentioned above this lot think they are better batsmen than they are and Root, as the set batsman, should have sheltered them from the strike a bit better.

The pitch is also deteriorating and was a lot harder to bat on than at the beginning of the innings when Burns etc got themselves out.

Can't believe some posters can't see when you have one the worlds best batsman at the crease and on a big hundred and in terrific form, that he should not take the high majority of the strike and not the tail.

It's clearly obvious that should happen.

tell that to the likes of Steve Waugh

You dont keep the strike from Robinson like, sorry youre just wrong on that point

When everyone is fit Robinson might get the nod because of his batting.

Fair enough on anderson, but Bumrah bowled a 10 ball over

Also you are going on like its the easiest thing in the world to score runs and keep the strike every over, its not

its certainly easy sat from an arm chair thats for sure

But not to those at the very top of the game apparently.

No I get that it’s not always possible and agree not always easy.

However without a shadow of doubt imo a player of that ability and on that score should at least try and keep as much strike as possible

It just seems common sense and logical that a brilliant on form batsman where possible should try to keep the strike in the latter part of a innings when the bowlers are batting.

If I am wrong then fair enough but just don’t see the logic bowlers having more of the strike in that situation than somebody on a big hundred
