England v India (2nd test) Lords

Mo has been superb. Most likeable cricketer it’s great to see him do well.

I was thinking about it but the trains were £200

I like him unconditionally but he genuinely bowled really well today

we lost 2 years of his career cos of Ed smith

also

Ali probs isn’t answer in ashes in oz but we are obsessed with ashes. Ignoring all cricket before it. So he hasn’t played

sorry but him n bairstow have been totally messed about

if jonny had been left at 7 with gloves n Ali at 8 n spinner and loved they’d have done so much

genuinely annoys me.

Ed smith was absolutely awful

How long is this post. Can you tell none of my mates like cricket?

He lost plenty of tests because he was batting AND bowling crap in summer 2019 to be fair. And yes, I do know he’d got a sackful of wickets in the previous year.

I like Mooen as a pure cricketer, but felt better uncomfortable when he was wearing those pro-Palestine stuff. That may be his beliefs but didn’t feel it needed to represented on that stage for our team.
Sorry didn’t mean to quote you, they are my thoughts

I know where you are coming from but it’s a bit more to it than that I think. Johnny for example had been messed about but did develop some terrible technical flaws that contributed to poor runs of form. It’s hard to say he would have continued to score runs as much at 7 as he had done before. He definitely was messed about tho not disputing that.

no doubt that his white ball success (he’s argument to being our best ever white ball batsman) was his fault. But when you’re valued you find a way

he scored 1500 test runs in a year and then he was pushed up to 5 while keeping with Buttler as a specialist batsman at 7

I mean how ridiculous is that

Mo Ali has been our number 1 spinner but at the same batter in every position from 1 to 9

and that happened after they’d been in great form

It’s total mismanagement led by Ed smith

Tell me about it marra.

Why I enjoy the debates on here.

A very good post.

Ed Smith - another public schoolboy. So he was perfect for the MCC establishment old boys network. If ever we get rid of these slime balls it will be the greatest day for cricket.

ha thanks . Glad I’m not the only one

if I go over the top on here it’s because I rarely get to talk about it out loud! Everyone on here is sound like.
Strauss was also a public schoolboy.

he was

but he was also incredibly talented batsman and a leader of men

unfortunately he was also mates with Ed smith, who isn’t so talented, which is how he got appointed

Ed smiths charachter is summed up well in his plagiarism thing with the times, Google it if not heard

no big deal but just shows he hasn’t got much substance

Don't worry about it mate, really easy to do when it's somewhat faceless.

I think we've all said things on here we regret.

But as you say everyone on here is sound. So we just move on and continue healthy debate.

Same can't be said for pure football

ha aye that’s true

the thing on cricket here though is that you can tell everyone wants England to win they just get frustrated or have a diff tactical philosophy to captain etc or whatever

pure football makes you question that. I’m sure they probs do just more extreme opinions.

Absurd call that like.

I was in the grandstand, it was broad daylight, no issues with visibility and we were already spinning from both ends, Root as a part timer. To chip off with 8 overs of play unbowled at that point is nowt short of a disgrace.

And Virat, as great a player as he is, can fuck right off

Ahem. They went off because Root was going to bring a seamer back on knowing it would end the days okay feeling he had a better chance with the new ball. Blame the umpires and blame Root if you like for the last 8 overs not being bowled but it’s fuck all to do with Kohli.
Alastair Cook
Jos Buttler
Jonny Bairstow
Stuart Broad
And hundreds more.
I’m sure there’s only Stoneman, Denly and now Lawrence out of England batsmen only the last 15 years that haven’t been public schoolboys for at least some of their education.

I was at the game so didn’t have the benefit of knowing any of that tbf other than what I saw. Very much looked like India agitating to get off. This morning ought to be very interesting nonetheless.

Kohli was agitating to go off that much is true but the decision to go off was made once Root decided to go back to his quicks. You are right a great days cricket ahead today.
