Can only beat what’s in front of us. Important not to get carried away as qualification has been a doddle many times in the past but I’m looking forward to seeing how this group develops. Got some cracking talent. I’d have liked to have seen Tomori getting a game, centre half is our biggest problem and this lad could easily be in the starting eleven come the Euros.

He’s 19, his chance will come. I wonder if Man City would loan him out for a season? He’s usually in their squad but rarely plays, when he needs to.

So England have two wonderfully talented creative midfield players, Maddison and Foden, but Southgate seems to be detetmined to frustrate us.
