i think your team is the one bar robson, who has not been given a central contract. also i think it will be jordan or stokes, rather than anderson or jordan

Don't think Robson has a chance of playing mind. He gets bowled out too often and he won't have that defect fixed by then. Hales possibly, but he will have to show some good form against pace , possibly in WI to get a sniff, but the same could be said of other contenders. I'd maybe try Lyth, just on his record mind as when I've seen him he's done nowt! maybe Vince

Not sure about Stokes either. He's a banker for me, but they leave him out as soon as they can. But if they do play him he should bat at six. He is good enough, has shown it and does not mind short stuff at all, whereas Ali has no shots to it. I think they are determined to get a place in the team for Woakes as well, even though he seems to be straining to play at test level. I would like to see Mills persevered with in the winter and Jamie Overton as well, though the England set up sent him and three others home knacked after a week last summer. If Gurney can learn to swing the ball in to the right hander he might be worth a shout . But Finn for me if he continues his recovery and they just bloody leave him alone.

For me then, allowing for a bit of form and injury:

1. Cook.
2. Lyth / Hales / Vince.
3. Ballance
4. Bell
5. Root
6. Stokes
7. Butler
8. Ali
9. Broard
10 Anderson
11. Finn.

I would like to think there is someone outside these obvious contenders who might storm his way into the team, but Overton aside I can't think of one. Too early for Lees?

It's a toss of a coin between Lyth and Lees at the moment. You wonder could both open and let Cook drop down to 3?

Lees
Lyth
Cook
Ballance
Root
Bell
Ali
Buttler
Broad
Anderson
Finn

3 bowlers plus Ali? That looks a little tough.

For me
Cook
--unknown--
Ballance
Root
Bell
Stokes
Ali
Buttler
Broad
Anderson
Finn

the only issue is at no. 2

Stokes has got to be included, he was the only one who showed that he could stand against the Aussies at winter and when he's hitting the ball he looks a proper batsman. There's a question mark with Ali on his ability to face quick short balls so I'd even consider swapping him and Buttler in the order.
