They may have been allowed however I’m guessing plenty of families stayed at home
Some modeling suggests that if we don’t pull our finger out here (Sydney) our current lockdown could last until Christmas and there’d be restrictions in place after that for a while. Postpone it for a year

4 months I read.
Tests start 8th December and end 18th January. Add some quarantine and practice time. The one day side can be completely different.

Working away and not seeing their families is just part of their job, so no real sympathies on that score.
How would they have coped back in the day when you had to travel their via boat?
On the other hand, if they've got to stay in these ridiculous "bubbles" once they are there and never leave the hotel other than travelling to and from the ground, then I can understand why they would just want to sack it off.

Lasts significantly longer than that though doesn’t it? We generally play 2-3 warm ups before, plus 2 weeks quarantine in the hotel means they’ll have to leave England early November. Half of them will be at the World Cup in Dubai prior to that and at the ODI and T20 series in Aus after that. Can see why they are reluctant

There is another T20 World Cup next year in Australia which would be just before the ashes, there’s no guarantee the situation will have improved and we will be in the same position again
