Picked this up from the Barmy Army website.

Provisional match schedule
26 November: 1st ODI - Colombo
29 November: 2nd ODI - Colombo
3 December: 3rd ODI - Hambantota
6 December: 4th ODI - Dambulla
10 December: 5th ODI - Kandy
13 December: 6th ODI - Kandy
16 December: 7th ODI - Colombo

I was hoping one or two games would be played at Galle but apparently Galle will only host test matches from now on. Looks like I'll have to wait until the Windies tour in April 2015.

Disgusting decision to go to a country with such heinous human rights abuses and mass murder on record

Is a dodgy place mate?

My friend is going for a month in the summer.

Also when is the next overseas test tour?

Nope its not dodgy, quite the opposite. Very friendly people but I've not been to the Tamil area which is the northern part. I was warned not to go there as its still not 100% safe for westerners. Although I think its more a case of the authorities don't want us to see what they did in that area.

They have a similar caste system to India which can be quite disturbing to those not used to it. However, the white man rules. Your mate will find themselves being ushered to the front of the queue just because they're white. Quite strange really. Its also a beautiful country once you get out of Colombo. Kandy is and the surrounding area is fantastic. If I'm not mistaken, I think the area around, and including, Kandy is a World Heritage Site. Kandy certainly is.

7 ODI's and no Tests? Giles Clark, you're a c*nt.

The test series was 2-3 years ago iirc. North Country Boy went with Podge.

I'm aware of that, but it has to make sense to tie all formats in together? Besides, what I'm getting at is that I'm not keen on a trip away for a month (or thereabouts) when there isn't any 'proper cricket' being played.

The point being, we have no winter Test Matches at all this year, so a little 2/3 Test tour of Sri Lanka would come in very handy IMO.

We have no winter test matches, neither does anyone else, due to little matter called the world cup.

It doesn't start until January. What's stopping us having a few Tests somewhere from late October to early December?

Or more specifically, Sri Lanka away in November, before the ODI's. 3 Tests, 5 ODI's. No fucker wants to see 7 bastard ODI's. Besides. To play Sri Lanka in only two away test matches every four years isn't enough.

How isn't it enough?

We've got to fit in:

Australia
New Zealand
Pakistan
India
West Indies
Sri Lanka
South Africa
Bangladesh

on a rotational basis.

The players are human after all, and unless you're proposing we do something like:

1) Season ends
2) Travel to Australia in November for 5 Tests, 3 ODIs and 2 T20s. (2 months)
3) Travel to New Zealand in January for 5 Tests, 3 ODIs and 2 T20s. (2 months)
4) Have a month off
5) Host India in April for 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20s (Indians love the short format remember) to take up April and May.
6) Month off
7) Host West Indies in July for 5 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20s to take up July and August.
8) Month off
9) Travel to wherever for ICC World Cup/World T20.
10) Repeat from January with different opponents.

Would you be happy if your boss said "Right Brandon, we're upping the ante, loads of work, loads of travel, can't pick and choose what you do and minimal time off?" And don't say something like "If I was paid to play cricket I would" because the answer is still the same - it's unrealistic and would go a long way to further killing the game.

Sometimes mini-tours like this is needed to meet certain obligations and ensure players remain at their best.

Not reading all that bollocks.

You blatantly missed the part where I said take out a couple of needless ODI's and replace with Tests. They'll be in the country a month, plenty of space for a couple of Tests and a few ODI's.
