Eng vs India - First Test - 20th-24th June

I don’t think Tongue is a long time England player and he’s as slow as me moving away from an all you can eat buffet

And that was before he was cut square for 6

Tongue has done it again there, either the outfield is lightning or he's running in treacle.
Tongue is not an international bowler like. Bloke has no idea where he’s bowling it most of the time.
I thought he looked promising in the first two tests he played, although granted one was against Ireland. Had quite high hopes for him this summer after how well he started the season for Notts, but he was poor against Zimbabwe and what we have seen so far today from him is concerning also.

Who would have thought starting your 2nd Test Match of the Summer towards the end of June leaves the lads looking a bit undercooked? ;)

Back to being toothless I see.

Very easy for the Indians this.

Need something special from somewhere. Ollie Pope had a chance for a run out around lunch. That's the last chance we had.

This bowling attack is so bad. Woakes is finished, Tongue isn’t good enough, Carse isn’t effective in a three-man attack when Stokes is barely bowling himself.

He’ll never score an easier hundred in his life. That over was absolutely disgusting.

Aye nice one Stokesy lad, who on earth in their right mind would think with sunshine and clear skies, aye we’ll have a bowl
They love a chase don't they, applying the situation/conditions to the decision doesn't seem to compute to them

Still scratching my head about putting them in. With our average bowling, I would have thought bowling last on this road would have been the way to go personally.

Hindsight I suppose but definitely a Nass in Brisbane moment for Stokes.

Who would you play
Actually think Cook or Robinson is needed instead of Tongue.

Could even have tried Hull again as something different.

Wouldn't expect Archer to play the 2nd test but could see him (if he stays fit) playing the 3rd and 5th.

Going to be a long summer this. As a few of us predicted, this is the worst bowling attack we've had for a very long time (think pre Broad and Anderson).

Length has been all over the place. Its almost as if they never have any practice in long form consistent red ball cricket...

Just barely played any matches in the last 2 years, think he may be a good squad option for the Ashes, but it's looking too early for an international comeback

Atkinson, Wood, Archer, Stone all injured
Pennington injured
Hull, Robinson, Potts, Ahmed not selected

That’s the pattern in the last few seasons

They’ve basically been on their backsides since February

We are like a touring team in the first two tests

Tongue had played 3 games for Notts and the Zimbabwe test match, he's then only played 1 game in a month (Lions game), Carse, Bashir, Woakes and Stokes must have played about 5 first class games between them this year also and therein lies the problem, most bowlers are coming into tests with little meaningful match practise.

Pennington played in the Blast for Notts last night btw.

Well bowled Stokes, big session now with Pant able to take the game away from you very quickly.
