Energy & Physicality

Looking at the views of Villa fans this is where we could have an advantage today.

Quite a few of their fans saying that they struggle with physical teams and can get bullied. Unsurprisingly therefore I’ve seen a load of comments about Brobbey and who should be playing from their side to counter him (Most seem to think Mings is their best bet to try and stop him). But it seems across the pitch they aren’t great at physical battles.

Also seen a few comments about playing against runners. All clubs had a good break over the international window recently but they have had a pretty intensive 9 days since returning with playing 3 times including a trip to Italy. They also only played Thursday so have had about as short a break as you can get between games.

Don’t think it changes our game plan as it’s our strengths anyway but if Brobbey can do his usual today and we can see the same midfield energy from the likes of Sadiki and Diarra as last week a few of their fans seem to be saying that those are exactly the sort of attributes that they struggle against.

Villa have a lot of players back from injuries. Really important ones so I think they’ll be fairly fresh tbh. They themselves have a lot of pace and energy . I’m expecting a really difficult match and a draw would be an excellent result

They only played Thursday night though. Seen them questioning amongst others whether or not Buendia (Who was their MOTM against Bologna) can play again so soon. Also their fullbacks as as you say they play an intensive role going forwards with a lot of running required.

Going more off their own fans concerns but even though they were at home on Thursday it’s a really short break from Thursday night game to Sunday lunchtime. About as short as UEFA allow - So not sure how fresh they will be if he doesn’t rotate and leave out a few

Really fancy this game with Ballard back as well
We know we will give anyone a game these days
Players will have the prize of Europe to motivate them now without the pressure of a must win game.

Their league form dropped off a cliff largely due to injuries I suspect. Hope they’re not quite back to full fitness or not risked with the recent game time.

I reckon Ballard will come on for the last 20 minutes

Think Ballard may come in for Onien who did well last week tbf.
Ballard will cause problems in their box from throws and corners. He did at SoL actually.
Might be a weakness of theirs we can exploit.

I wouldn't mind seeing Talbi or Angulo get the nod for one of the wide spots. Rigg and Enzo did a great job last week, but I just think a direct attacking outlet with pace could see us get on the counter quicker, especially now that Brobbey is looking to bring others in to play.

They only played 2 and a half days ago so plenty of pressing with pace on the wings etc could be to our advantage
