End of season games 98/99

Pretty much full strength
Stephen Wright coming on for Liverpool
Was that not the reserve game at the SOL?
I think so, I think Proctor scored.

Yes mate

Sunderland won the Central League once, in the 1998–99 season under the management of Adrian Heath.[14] It was their final season in a competition that was then called the Pontins League Championship. In that season, a crowd of 33,513 at the Stadium of Light watched Sunderland Reserves beat Liverpool 1-0 - an all-time record attendance for the Central League.[15]

"Young" Robbie Fowler? Would have been on his way down by 1999!
He might be confusing with young Michael Owen who scored in that record attendance game a year or two later.
Liverpool game was on Sky

20000 v Man Utd
33000 v Liverpool
26000 v Derby (won the reserve league that night)
Yep, it was the Rangers friendly, in the summer of 99, that was on Channel 5.

I seem to remember the Liverpool game was trying to beat an attendance record and it was free to get in.

You sat in different seats and it was full of lasses and bairns.

I think McManaman was the most famous Liverpool player on the field as he was coming back from injury.

Or a meringue?
That not the reserve team game?
