Emery

Certainly worked, just wouldn't normally be referred to as good imo. I guess it’s like Graham Taylor said, the difference between a long ball and long pass is which team played it.
What worked? 4 goals and none of them from “wellying it up”.

Didn’t see him do anything wrong. Not sure shouting and managing your own team from the dugout is a point to criticise tbh
Maybe not the OP, but I've seen plenty Sunderland fans in the past twist because whoever's been stood in our technical area haven't been as animated.

Personally, a coach 'kicking' every ball is not really for me and I prefer Regis' calm demeanour, but you cannot deny the bloke is a good manager.

He was fine and relatively normal - de zerbi, arteta and pep are wankers. Difference is when it comes across as forced for me - everything arteta does is forced and fake and for attention and because he knows the cameras on him. That’s different to celebrating wildly when you win a game in the 94th minute - I’d have been in the front street if Diarra scored so can’t expect the manager to applaud calmly can we?

He’s an excellent manager no doubt. That said, listening to a Villa fan on a podcast last week it seems that against all current thinking Villa have given Emery a huge amount of responsibility at the club.

Apparently almost Alex Ferguson like, Emery is in complete control at the club so when he does eventually move on they’ll need to hire a few senior staff or find another old school gaffer.
