Ellis Short

I certainly found some of the defending laughable. Having bought my season tickets I'll be there next season - getting angry about Ellis Short or desperately dissecting the situation to apportion blame is pointless to me.

I suppose we're just different characters then mate. To be fair it doesn't even need dissecting......it's simply poor decision making on an industrial scale.

This is the problem with the premier league. Teams aspire to achieve this mediocrity and it is dull as fuck. No joy there at all.
I don't think there is much option really. I think it would cost close to billion over the next 5 years to get us consistently competing at the top end of the league for trophies and titles.

Exactly and people have the choice to stop going if they don't like the way he is running the football club

They most certainly will. There's something amiss with our attendances at the moment. We're attracting over 43k on average and yet the football has been diabolical. We must be dishing out a lot of free tickets as I don't think we sold a record level of season cards!

See, i don't understand this.......why did performances tail off when O'Neill had us safe in April. I really don't understand why professional footballers would think they've done enough for the season and make little attempt to win any game subsequently. The answer can only be that we employ the wrong types on a consistent basis.

Stoke adjusted to the league with ease and are mid table every season. They've also experienced a cup final and europe.

Split the league in half.

Whos the alternative then? Do you think people are queing up to purchase Sunderland AFC? Have you read our financial results of the past 5 seasons.
Here we go again ,who are we going to get next. The poor financial results are because of Short.

I'm sure Palace's players earned plenty of those yesterday though. It still comes down to actually WANTING TO WIN......a fear of failure.....being really bothered when you lose a game.
Go back to massive win bonuses. Basic wage of a grand a week, massive bonus each win.

Even simpler......just employ players who actually want to win and are bothered by it when they don't. Definitely three, and arguably more times this season we've downed tools in games.

Oh aye, that's a given. It's f***ing shit though.

Doesn't have to be though.......Palace are well safe but their players seem hungry to win, express themselves and entertain....they haven't given up yet this season.

I didn't say that mid table wasn't achievable, I said that's probably the limit of what we can realistically achieve. Aspiring to be Stoke

I didn't say you didn't say it was unachievable did I?

Fickle fuckers. Ellis Short wasn't on the pitch yesterday and if you thin we've got a view 'championship' players then check palace out!

The buck stops with him I'm afraid. On paper we should be turning over teams like Palace but they made light work of us yesterday. Our mentality is so fragile that if we concede one goal then it's game over.

No idea what your point is then.
Swansea have come up and stabilised got to a cup final and played in Europe.

My point was we've spent a hell of a lot more money than Stoke and yet they've consistently finished mid table.

We on the other hand are always struggling.

WARNING - We are going to get a lot of these type of threads in the coming weeks.

They will randomly lash out at Short, Byrne, Congerton and no doubt even Advocatt who will at some point be described as clueless, I guarantee it.

They generally contain no explanation, and very few actual facts.

'Rotten to the core' may be posted many times.

Given the continuing bitterness among the NUFC fans.. How come Short is regarded as a fairly okeyish owner while Ashley is vilified, despite achiving several goals that SAFC don´t live up to?
Is it just the fact that Ashley makes money while Short cover losses?

A few reasons IMO:

1. The fact that Ellis Short has put, and continues to put, lots of money into the club - which Ashley did a while back but he has now stopped propping them up. A lot of our fans can't see beyond the money Short puts in (which he has to because of his mismanagement) to look at how he is actually taking the club backwards.

2. Ashley has been very distant from the fans for a while - never gives interviews, etc. Short does, every time he sacks a manager, to tell us he will get the right manager this time.

3. The skunks delusional belief that they should be in the Champions League.

Yes but it comes across like children stamping their feet. - don't mean you. What will you do about it? Just keep stamping your feet. As I've said before Short has presided over part of our longest period of top flight football for over 50 years. He must be doing something right. It's at this point that someone says - we were just lucky to stay up.
