Been to all the main venues except Lords, and for me it's the best.

Best atmosphere, always swings, pitch offers something but still rewards the very best batsman and England always win.

It's probably the most acceasible for the whole country too. They should start every series there, like Australia do with Brisbane. Why we always play a game at the Oval, I've never understood - rarely offers anything for seamers, and London already has one guaranteed test.

Agree completely.

The Oval is a big stadium in our largest city and only gets one Test a summer. To say it should get none is ridiculous.
I agree. the trouble is there are more venues than Tests.

I reckon the following should be guaranteed a Test: Lords, The Oval, Trent Bridge, Headingly, Old Trafford, Edgbaston and Chester Le Street (in the summer proper). Seems only fair.....

In my opinion, Lord’s, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge and the Oval are our four best grounds. The other grounds can fight it out for Tests after that.

I had my tongue well and truly lodged in my cheek when I did that list but I do think at least one Test should be guaranteed for the North each year and preferably more than that.

Trent Bridge beats it for me on all of those criteria with the exception of atmosphere - but then Old Trafford and Headingley can create a better atmosphere.

Another vote for f***ing The Oval off.

Trent Bridge is my second fave, aye. Less atmosphere, but its a prettier ground.

Because it’s a big stadium in the capital city and is a very historic ground that touring teams want to play at. Pretty simple really.

If I were a touring team, I'd want to play there too. It could be a drop in pitch man, there's nothing distinctively English about the conditions at all.

Agree 100% with this. Best International cricket venue in the country for atmosphere.....
